I was playing in Wild as well and had to pay the 2000 DEC fee. I have a question as I was thinking to jump into it again: with the Season earnings in SPS if I change those for DEC, would I cover the fee?

Honestly, I never did the comparison if this covers the fee or not. The reason why I play this format because for modern rental cards are either not available on high level or if available then the rental is much higher.
