The Missing Fire Pelacor (New Card Speculation)

Missing In Action

Since the release of the new reward cards one thought has been stuck at the back of my mind. “Why isn’t there a Fire Pelacor?” Each other Splinter has one and I don’t believe the creative team would leave out one element. At least, not without good reason or lore.

Any images are just rough guesses at what I think the card could look like, if it will exist. This is all speculation and very likely to be completely incorrect. But, I think it is fun to guess what new cards the future holds and hopefully others do as well.

Following Patterns

If you take a look at many of the new reward cards and compare them to the alpha/beta cards you can see that there are many similarities between some of the cards. Some examples include:

  • Flesh Golem and Pelacor Mercenary
  • Sabre Shark and Pelacor Bandit
  • Divine Healer and Venari CrystalSmith

It seems that some of the new reward cards are meant to fill similar roles of older cards in the modern format. For this reason, I believe it is a possibility that the Fire Pelacor will follow suit. Following this line of reason, I think the Fire Pelcor will have similarities to Goblin Shaman or Giant Roc. I could see an additional Pelacor filling either role.

It also seems plausible that it could be a rare card, instead of common. I must refer to the similar new reward card group, the Venari. All but one Venari is rare, so why not all Pelacors common but one? To further speculate, I believe it is a rare card; it will likely be either magic or range based.

Looking in the Lore

If you read through the lore of the various Pelacor cards you see that they are interconnecting and tell a larger story similar to the Ventari cards. The lore does not include specific details about the various types of Pelacor, only the race's history and how they arrived at the Splinterlands. Sadly, I was unable to find any references that hint at what the card could be like. There was also no mention of perhaps why no Pelacor sought to ally with the Fire Splinter, if that does happen to be the case.

Off the Wall Theories

My three most outlandish theories about the Fire Pelacor are:

A.) There will be some correlation to the “Sun Splinter”, which is mentioned as part of the Pelacor origin. Perhaps instead of descending, like the other 4 Pelacor cards, they were able to ascend to higher power. If this is the case, it may be an epic or even legendary.

B.) The Fire Pelacor will be part of the opposition to the current “good” Pelacors. Whether it be part of the Chaos Legion or from “the Greater Pelacor Forces'” that plan to take over the surface as mentioned in the closing paragraph of the lore.

C.) There will be a Fire summoner added with Chaos Legion that has the familiar wings. Although, I'm not confident on what its ability would be since Brighton Bloom already called dibs on flight. Perhaps "Redemption" to all creatures, wouldn't that be fun.

Ending Thoughts

At the end of the day I know it is very possible I am overthinking the entire subject and there will never be a Fire Pelacor. Although, I hope not. If for nothing more than lore sake and continuity.

Do you believe there will be any more additions to the Pelacor cards? If so, what abilities do you think they will possess?
