The best part of Splinterlands over Axie is that it doesn't cost as much to start up and you don't have to deal with high costs. If you can't afford the cards, just rent them and the gas fees on ETH aren't here either.

It used to be the opposite haha. Times have changed. a Single maxed level common card is not c.300-500$ ! And you need now c.30k USD minimum to have some good teamt to be in gold rank.

It does but if it didn't there wouldn't be as much value in the game. Money has to be generated from somewhere.
The Splinterlands rental service is a no brainer, even for both new and veteran players! One can easily accelerate ones growth and get the investment back. I agree with everything here.

so true even as a newbie you could rent out a set of cards you don't really use and start earning some DEC to help build your stacks.
Yes, I have been playing a few month, but just now started to both rent cards, and rent out my duplicates
I think is already possible to live off of Axie Infinity, Splinterlands, and posting on Hive regularly. I hope Axies add Ronin Dex soon.

Axie Infinity uses the Ronin chain (think like Polygon). Ronin DEX would be a place to trade tokens like ETH, AXS, and SLP. It's just a decentralized exchange in the Ronin chain.
Right now, if we want to trade SLP for ETH or AXS we have to bridge all assets to Ethereum and use Uniswap, spending on gas fees. Ronin DEX should fix that.
