A few days ago the Splinterlands community gave the following announcement so I invite you to stop by if you haven't seen it yet
Splinterlands’ recent vlog on their DHF proposal and engagement with the Hive community provides a detailed and transparent insight into their plans and aspirations. The first impression is positive, as it demonstrates a clear intention to keep the community informed and to respond to their concerns. It is encouraging to see the significant amount of support they have received, with over 26 million Hive Power voting in favour of their proposal. This figure reflects not only the interest in the project, but also the trust in the team behind Splinterlands.
The reaffirmation that Splinterlands has no plans to leave the Hive blockchain, regardless of the outcome of their proposal, is a crucial message to calm any concerns. Clarifying that their primary responsibility is to shareholders and players, and that they would consider other platforms only if necessary for the success of the project, shows a pragmatic and honest approach. This stance also highlights the importance of community support to avoid even having to contemplate that possibility.
As for the use of funds, while a detailed breakdown is not provided, a compelling overview is given. Investing in marketing and promotion, as well as improving the onboarding experience for new players, is a logical strategy to grow the user base and strengthen both Splinterlands and Hive. The mention of an iterative process of testing and fine-tuning suggests a meticulous, results-oriented approach.
The promotion of Hive within the game is another highlight. The inclusion of the Hive logo and the creation of educational modules about the blockchain within the game's "academy" system are concrete steps that can increase the visibility and understanding of Hive among Splinterlands players. These actions not only benefit Splinterlands but also the entire Hive community by attracting more users and encouraging greater engagement with the platform.
The commitment to open source is another notable aspect of the vlog. Although the project is ambitious and requires significant resources, the intention to make Splinterlands completely open source in the future shows a long-term vision of transparency and collaboration. The current progress with the SPS “validator” project is a good indication that they are taking concrete steps toward that goal.
The discussion about the opportunity that Splinterlands presents for Hive is particularly interesting. The idea that the success of blockchain platforms will depend on the applications built on top of them is insightful. Splinterlands could be that “breakout application” that propels Hive to the next level, and its success could open the doors for other applications on Hive to thrive as well. This collective approach may be key to Hive’s growth and widespread adoption.
Finally, the honesty about the lack of guarantees and the nature of the investment is refreshing. Acknowledging that there are risks involved and that success is not assured, but committing to doing as much as possible with the resources available, shows a level of integrity and realism that is essential to maintaining community trust. This balance between hope and realism is crucial to maintaining sustained long-term support.
