Hello! This post is for the entry of Splinterlands Weekly Challenge. For this week, we have Counterspell as the theme. This battle is a battle from a Modern Bronze Tournament.
Counterspell
All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.
- Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
- Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
- The amplify ability increases damage.
Battle
Rank: Modern Bronze
Avaliable Type: Fire, Earth, Death, Dragon
Mana Cost: 32
Counterspell: All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.
Wands Out: Only units with magic attacks may be used.
Earthquake: All non-flying units take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn.
It is a weird battle, since Counterspell does not favor Magic though you can only use magic cards.
Lineup
Summoner: Helios Matriarch. It gives +1 speed to all unit and allows a Gladiator card in battle. Although mana cost is high, it allows me to use Quora, so I used it.
First position: Quora Towershead. Quora Towershead has both Melee and Magic attack which makes it good in a Wands Out battle. With Bloodlust and Heal ability, I thought it would make a good tank.
Second position: Queen Mycelia. It gives protect that gives +2 armor to all friendly creatures. It shields all creatures from Earthquake damage.
Third position: Goblin Psychic. With Tank Heal avaliable from level 1, it helps Quora to stay alive.
Fourth position: Spirit Hoarder. Although it has only 3 health, it heals the damaged back line monsters. With the ruleset, back line monsters would get a lot of damage, so it would help them to stay alive.
Fifth position: Djinn Biljka. Just a 1 magic attacker that costs only 3 mana. It is going to die soon with having only 2 health.
Round 1
My opponent picked Helios and also picked Quora. The difference was they chose Chaos Dragon instead of small magic attackers. At round 1, none of the monsters died, but Chaos Dragon is at low health.
Round 2
After starting, my Quora kills their Chaos Dragon. Both Quora deals damage to each other, and although their Quora kills Djinn Bijika, it has low health so others are able to take it down.
Counterspell Ruleset
Counterspell is a good ruleset in my opinion. You can use magic with some nerfs, but magic seems to be stronger than others, so Melee and Ranged monsters would see some more play here.
