I used the Android version and it looks quite similar. The mobile app is actually only good if you want to battle on the go. For everything else, you need to do it on your PC.
The only really bonus was you could use Google Pay to buy credits, which meant if you did Google surveys, you could use that to buy Credits! However, buying credits on the app has been suspended indefinitely...
