Battle Mage Secrets Challenge - Healed Out

in Splinterlandslast month (edited)

Hey Splinterfans, thanks for dropping by! Today we have a new Battle Mage Secrets Challege and the ruleset in focus is Healed Out.

As Usual, we cannot look at battle and focus on an individual ruleset but need to consider all the rulesets given combined. Also, there usually is a dominant ruleset and this one is not one of them. Basically, there are no healing abilities in Healed Out. It is good to keep it in mind by not fielding healing monsters and to concentrate more on the other rulesets.

I don’t really have a specific strategy for Healed Out, so I tend to concentrate on speed, piling in other abilities to manipulate the gameplay and in this case, the Resurrect ability would come in handy.

HEALED OUT

All healing abilities are removed (Heal, Tank Heal and Triage)

The battle I have chosen to look at more closely to illustrate the obove observations is a mid mana battle featuring my favourite summoner, Quix the Devious coupled with the Life Deck. I went specifically for the speed differential to outrun the enemy and also bring a Resurrect monster, Adelade Brightwing.

So here we have a mid mana battle with three rulesets. Here are the stats:

Rulesets: Holy Protection, Melee Mayhem and Healed Out
Mana cap: 32
Splinters: all except green

Here is the team I put together:

image.png

QUIX THE DEVIOUS - As most of the time, Quix leads the pack. I don’t necessarily use him in order to bring a bunch of Dragon monsters, but more specifically for his speed and range debuffs with the added option of having more monsters at my disposal.

image.png

BLINDING REFLECTOR - With 33 mana to work with, I prefer to use a relatively low mana tank and boost the midfield. I like his Magic Reflect ability, especially with a Hole Protection ruleste, where he fires back at any magic attack.

image.png

NAGA ASSASSIN – This girl is fast, brings a speed buff and has Backfire. She is great in any battle and can survive surprisingly long when she is stranded in first position, hence she is in position 2.

image.png

ADELADE BRIGHTWING is a card that I don’t use a lot but here her speed buff and Resurrect ability are very important for my battle strategy today.

image.png

TIME MAGE is another great card. The brings a speed debuff and attacks fast and hard.

image.png

PELACOR ARBALEST is ont the fastest but hits twice. So apart from being fast, I want my team to have the maximum firepower.

image.png

SUPPLY RUNNER – Here is another monster with a speed buff and also hits fast and hard.

So now that the team has been put together and the strategy is in place, let's take a look at how this battle plays out:

ROUND ONE

Round 1 began with all the buffing and debuffing, leaving my team with a huge speed advantage to enable all my little darlings to fire before any of the enemy monsters could respond. My team also had Strengthen, Blind and Rust. The enemy tank, Diemonshark took a heavy pounding, followed by Blinding Reflector getting toasted and then promptly resurrected.

ROUND TWO

Thanks to the speed advantage, the enemy tank had to go with the first shot in the second round. He too was resurrected but perished soon afterwards. Supply Runner collected three misses in a row, leaving him unscathed thus far. Blinding Reflector then took his leave, bringing Naga Assassin to the frontline.

ROUND THREE

The next enemy domino fell immediately at the beginning of round 3, leaving the monster ratio at 5 to 4. Things were looking peachy. Pelacor Arbalest hit his target every time, which did much to wear down the health of any enemy monster in front of him. Supply Runner then had to go.

ROUND FOUR

Round 4 was uneventful. Another domino fell and Naga Assassin didn't survive.

ROUND FIVE

Not much happened here either. The battle was almost over and Pelacor Bandit survived to reach Round 6 only to be wiped out by Time Mage.

HERO OF THE DAY

Pelacor Arbalest

The Hero of The Day Award goes to Pelacor Arbalest with 30 damage in 5 rounds! Well done Mister!

So to sum up, the Healed Out ruleset was not a particular relevant factor in this battle and I don't usually have a particular strategy for this ruleset. The Melee Mayhem ruleset also didn't play a role for any monsters on both teams, as most monsters were either magic or range attackers and all melee monsters on both sides had their own attack abilities (Sneak, Reach). So it came down to speed: Naga Assassin had 9 whopping speed, Supply Runner and Time Mage had 8. The ability to consistently hit first and having double strike to boot, made all the difference so that at no point did the enemy team look like they could challenge the battle outcome.

A significant factor of the speed advantage is to break through the enemy tank as early as possible, which often causes the enemy team to then crumble and fall like dominos.

Gotta go, Buffalo and see you next week!

WHAT IS SPLINTERLANDS?

Splinterlands is an autobattle digital card game on the Hive blockchain. The playing cards are NFTs, therefore they belong to you and you can trade, transfer or delegate them as you please. All you need to move cards and other ingame assets around is a Hive Keychain login. There are three types of battles you can play: ranked battles, brawls and tournaments. Every battle you win brings rewards, including SPS and/or loot chests containing cards, potions, packs and merits. The ingame currency is DEC and the governance token is SPS. For gladiator packs you need to earn merits through brawls and loot chests. Tournaments can bring you stacks of SPS if you play well. There are several third party card markets, including Peakmonsters.com and the best places to learn to play are PeakD and YouTube.
