Hello Splinternerds
The Conclave Arcana summoners and monsters are so good that it is hard to pick a favorite, because I pick my favorite based on their abilities and how good they are in battle.
As it is now, if I am to pick my favorite conclave arcana card, I will pick Cavewise Wayfinder.
Why this card? What made it special and why pick it over other cards?
Cavewise Wayfinder is a common fire splinter card with amazing abilities. It has 4 abilities, which I will write their use cases below.
This is its first ability, at first, I see reckless as a debuff, but as time goes on and I discovered the painforge ability, I realize reckless is also a buff when utilized well. So with the reckless ability, each successful attack on the enemy causes 1 damage to adjacent units to Cavewise.
The ambush ability allows Cavewise to attack the opponent before the first round starts, which allows it to clear the armor or any barrier from the opponent that might obstruct his next attack.
This ability protects it against magic monsters as it reduces their attack by 50% when they hit it.
It gains 50% melee power and speed when hit by the opponent, which makes its attack and speed more lethal for the opponent team.
These four abilities make Cavewise a good tank. It has been difficult to see a good replacement for Grimbardun Smith, but with cavewise around, Grimbardun is not needed, and it can even do better than Smith.
I had a battle with numbercrunch using Cavewise in a 3 ruleset, and its performance there will explain the reason I chose it as my favorite...
The first rule was weak magic which indicates that magic attacks hit armor before the health. The second rule was Deflection Shield which indicates that all monsters have deflect, so they can't be affected by thorns, magic reflect, corrosive ward or return fire. Lastly is the Lost legendaries which is self-explanatory, no legendary monsters can be used in the battle.
It was a 29 battle cap, and only 4 splinters were available. The opponent and I used the Lorkus summoner, but our choice of monsters was different.
Cavewise Wayfinder was my tank and a suitable one. I use it because I predicted the opponent would either use a melee or magic attack. Lack of legendary monsters ruled out the range attackers. Cavewise is a brutal attack, so much better than Grimbardun Smith as a tank, and it didn't disappoint me! Even though Cavewise was able to hold the front line, I won't give it all the credit because there is a monster behind it that supported it.
Vicious Giraffe is the support that Cavewise needs; it helps to clear the path with its shatter ability, giving Cavewise the chance to hit the opponent harder without anything hindering the hit. Another advantage to placing Giraffe behind Cavewise is the Painforge ability it possesses; with every successful attack by Cavewise, Giraffe loses one health, but this also boosts its stat, making it more powerful for the next round of attacks.
Chaos Animator was my third monster, and it is a non-attack card, so I needed a weapon training monster to give it power and that was when Lucky Longshot was needed. It is a range monster with both magic and range power, which it bestowed upon Chaos Animator and one other card.
Ahna-Chei Botanist was the second monster that benefited from Lucky Longshot weapon training ability, and it is also a monster with high speed, and lastly is Ujurak Elder, which I used specifically for its swiftness ability that adds 1 speed to all monsters in my team.
When Cavewise is available, there is no fear when choosing a tank in the fire splinter.
