RE: Splinterlands Ultimate Starter Guide

Great guide, however what strikes me most is the fact that in Splinterlands for new players what they have to get or buy is just way too much for it to really get some widespread adoption.

  1. Buy Spellbook
  2. Get Cards (Buy / Rent / Packs)
  3. Get SPS (Buy / Rent)
  4. Buy 5 Plots Of Land

Most people simply are already pushed away by just the first step to buy a 10$ spellbook. If anything, Splinterlands needs some kind of Draft Mode where you just pay an entry fee, have a fun 20-40 minute gameplay experience that is not overly complex and where everyone is on a level playing field with some rewards at the end that potentially are worth a bit more than what they pay for if they did really well. Something like that would get so many more new players willing to give it a chance.

Yeah, that's fair feedback. To be honest though they could stop at step 1 and just play, however they won't really get the full value. This is more like a FULL onboarding, which I think is important for people to get immersed and, hopefully, to have them stick around. I think most games that have depth require at least several steps and some investment (in both time & money) to "properly" onboard.

Thanks for you feedback!
