None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.

Those new to the card market of Splinterlands may find it challenging to set prices and also have never purchased cards with an exit price in mind. The card market is a generally low liquidity market, especially in its current form. Many are not quite sure how to approach this market when it comes to buying and selling, but Peakmonsters can help the unsure come up with an idea of how top sellers do what they do. It also can provide some insights that are previously unconsidered.

Peruse the Card Market to Find Common Sellers

Go through the Card Market look for the sellers with the most aggressive pricing. They're the ones usually undercutting everyone to get their cards sold and turned over. In the past, their margins would be very difficult to find out, but thanks to Peakmonsters, this is no longer the mystery it once was.

In the case of Gigale, the objective is generally a 10% markup. The net profit per card sold is roughly 3.4% after taking out the 6% sales tax. Buy as cheap as possible, turn the cards around fast. After all, a 3.4% return in a day on investments can grow into something large.

Want to copy how a04 does it? Now it's even easier.

How does a04 get their cards? Well, a04 is not the one making the purchases. a04 is gifted cards by other accounts and while one could check Hiveblocks to get this information or the Hive API, it can be more easily ascertained through Peakmonsters. Now, we all know how the cards are purchased and sold through a04.

The illusion is busted here and now it is easy to see the chain of transfers. Buying and selling operations are now more accessible to the community. All it takes is simply putting a mouse over the purchase price in the card holdings of the user to get the card history and pricing history for that specific card.

As many already know, the a04 operation is a basically a trading script. The purchases and sales are all automated. It's "passive income" for the developer, but now everyone can see how the operation works with greater ease. Maybe someone reading this will copy the approach after getting an understanding of it?

Are you getting ripped off?

Price histories may not be enough to determine whether prices are too high or low for a given day. Checking the seller of the lowest priced card and seeing how they acquired that card could provide further intraday information that may be quite surprising. That bargain price may not be a bargain price after all!

Do keep in mind that once cards are combined, much of the pricing history is not available afterward in this particular view.

Motivated Sellers... Selling at a Loss.

It's an interesting way of looking at how the markets work. Some are willing to take a loss because they overpaid. Not everyone is as focused on profit-and-loss margins when it comes to card assets.
