Sometime Your Good Lineup Fails Over Badluck

in Splinterlands2 days ago

Greeting Summoners

Welcome to my Splinterlands post. I write some Splinterlands posts regularly during weekends, as a form of sharing my experience and taking part of weekly engagement activity. So what should I write for today?

If yesterday I shared about some people who used Gladiator cards miserably, from trying to exploit them by having more and end up as a failure, today I will share another failure again but this time it is more of the bad luck.

Sometime we come up with good meta or good line up and lose badly because our opponent counters our meta. However sometime we lose badly not because our meta is getting countered... We can lose because our meta is not compatible with the opponent, or perhaps BAD LUCK is a better word of it.

Ok let's get down straight to our main event here, sharing a battle and discuss why it is failing due to bad luck

This is the battle I pick, in general our line up is pretty much equal, I have Commander Slade and Nimbledook Explorer which have higher level, while their line up is a very silver league level cap, all at level 5 for the commons and level 4 for the rares.

The ruleset was pretty much simple, we have a reach and we have a thorn. Who wants to use melee unit anyway during this Briar patches ruleset. It is a self suicidal move!

My opponent has a good solid line up. Let us see their backline first

They have this trio Dwarfs on their backline, all are range units. It looks simple and decent, nothing special, but I know what their plan is...

They want to use Swiftbeard Stout to kill my sneak and opportunity melee attackers, which of course I am not that stupid to use them during Briar patch. However they want this unit to die first so his death will activate the bloodline tribute ability and power up the other two dwarf. Those two will make 7 damage per round, and that number is a notable threat.

and their front lines are not jokes too

These three units look so so, all are common rarity units anyway. However if we see more in detail, there are two units there with ambush abilities. The magician Chaos Evoker with her blast ability, and Cavewise Wayfinder with his strong melee attacks.

The Vicious Giraffe is not something to be taken lightly too, he would grow powerful as the Cavewise Wayfinder keeps hurting him. So all the units there are actually set up well planned, I can not see it is as something that is bad.

Ok now let me show you why this good formation fails badly against my lineup

In the start of second round we can see that actually they win the first round. They takes down my Janni Rebel and the condition is 6 vs 5 with they have a unit advantage there. However this show something that does not work there... They Swiftbeard Stout is still healthy

The third round somehow the situation is got reversed. They lose two of their melee units which act as their tanks. Now things look ugly for them.

In the fifth round, we can say everything is over. And the funny thing is Swiftbeard Stout is still there doing his stuff without getting killed... But let see how this will last.

Round 8 is the last. Bad Game for Them

So how they end up losing badly here? They have a great start, my team gets beaten in the first round, then everything goes wrong. So here what I can say about them

  1. The only tactic works well from their meta is the double ambush ability. They manage to kill my Janni Rebel from those moves.
  2. Swiftbeard Stout who supposes to die soon to buff up his friends, last till the later game. This is not a good condition actually because my Commander Slade keeps dodging all the range attack due to speed gap and dodge ability. The reason why Swiftbeard survives that long rounds is because of the void ability from their own summoner.
  3. Their melee units are great but they die from the thorn ability from the ruleset. so it is not something that countered them there.

So that's what I want to share today. Sometime we win or we lose not because our opponent manages to outsmart us, or because they counter our meta, and not even because our meta and line up is bad... Sometime it happens like this, it just doesn't work due to bad luck over many small things.

Ok that's for today post and Thank you for your visit here. See you in Splinterlands Battles!!!
