Greetings Summoners
As usual I am sharing my Splinterlands battle once a while, especially if I have found some interesting battles. Some battles might be interesting for you but I might not be interesting for me, it goes vice versa. So I hope what I share today can spark up some joy in your Splinterlands journey.
Today it is about setting a solid tactic instead of dropping strong units. What I mean with this is that during small mana battle, when you have less than 20 Mana available, most of the time the best way is to set a solid tactic, a strong meta or a pin point laser beam strategy instead of dropping some strong units.
Strong units are important, sometime they can carry out the whole team by themselves. However in small mana battle, sometime you can not set anything else to ensure the safety or those strong units, or maybe to buff up them.
So let see the battle then!
The Battle
I pick this from one of my brawls. I play in Gold Foil Frays, so things like this is usual, bound to happen frequently. You know what I mean, right? We come into battle field with messy leveling, some are at good or max level, some are not.
The main reason why I chose this battle, regardless the level we have, because both of us here took different route. Let's talk about their team first.

I believed his core unit was Chimney Wallstop. It was a bold move to use 10 mana unit in 18 mana cap battle, this could be a suicidal or stupid move or maybe a high paying gamble. Personally I would avoid this one, the risk was too high and did not fit my risk preference.
Instead of building a team that support Chimney Wallstop, my opponent did the double top. He put in another Gladiator unit.

Orella Abadon might seem weak but I see him as a great choice during small mana battle. He only needs 2 mana, so he could fit in many meta as an X factor, or maybe you could build a lineup to support him by guarding him or buffing him up.
So a couple of Gladiator units... sounds scary right? but this is a 18 mana cap battle, so as we can see here, they can not support any of those two units. Is this a blunder? a bad move? I think it is not that bad, because both of them are very strong units. These units could carry up an entire team.
In contrast with my team, I only brought one core unit. It was my favorite gladiator unit from life element, Captain Katie!

Captain Katie is not the strongest gladiator unit however she is very effective. She has 3 magic damage with snipe ability, good health point and not a slow one. These traits make her able to fit in many line up.
I often build up a line up that fully support her growth from her bloodlust ability, and that was what I did in this battle. I put a tank, a healer and a backline wall just to buy more time for her to grow.
So let see what happen after 2 rounds in this battle

When round 3 started, My Captain Katie had 4 magic damage and 4 speed. She looked strong, did she? but please check on her opponent, those two gladiator units were no less than her, especially that Chimney Wallstop. In general, each of those gladiators could go rampage beating all the other units.
However this was a low mana cap battle, this was not about 2 strong units vs 1 strong unit. WE did not have enough mana to facilitate everything. so this became two strong units vs 1 strong unit supported by her team mate.

The result was clear, the battle ended at round 5. Captain Katie grew too strong for Orella Abandon. Good game dude!
My opponent tactic was not bad, however it became bad for low mana cap battle. If he came with only one gladiator card or one core unit and tried to build a support system around that one, he might get a better team. I would prefer he went with one Orella Abandon as his core, and put some buff and tank in front to facilitate Orella Abandon.
Or maybe you think that Captain Katie is too OP for those two?Feel free to leave any comment and thank you for visiting my post!

Well done bro!

Very impressive performance from Katie. The two misses on the Pelancor Conjurer by your opponent were game changers. Also, the single tank heal by the Anasth Soothsayer on the Conjurer proved vital to the overall win.I really enjoyed the battle.More wins, warrior!
