Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest #Splinterlands #CommunityEngagement challenge. Today's entry is all about the new Conclave Arcana Reward Set that was announced earlier this week. You can check out the Hive Post with all the technical details for the new set.
The Times They Are A Changin
There were some big changes that I will highlight quickly:
The new Conclave Arcana Reward cards will NOT have any production power for use on land.
The new Conclave Arcana Reward cards will NOT give contributions to conflicts via battle wagons.
The new regular foil Conclave Arcana Reward cards will be soulbound, but the Gold Foil, Block Foil, and arcane variants will be immediately unbound and transferable.
Gold Rules Everything Around Me -- G.R.E.A.M.
As a Gold Foil collector, the change that immediately caught my eye is that Splinterlands is getting rid of the ability to buy guaranteed Gold Foil reward card draws. I really enjoyed the update to Rebellion Rewards that gave us the ability to buy guaranteed Gold Foil draws for each of the four rarities. So to see them take away the ability to purchase the Gold Foils directly from the store with Glint is a bit of a negative for me personally.
Instead, the only ways to obtain Gold Foils through the Glint store are to open them through the Ranked Rewards and Loot Chests. There is a base 1% chance that any card will be GF, and to double it, one can use Alchemy Potions. But now, there will be a new potion multiplier needed for the rarities above common. Rare draws 5, Epic draws 10, and Legendary to 20 potions per draw to double GF chances to 2%.
These chances do not look good to me. I don't love burning through all these alchemy potions right before the mini-set is set to drop. I'd rather save them to use 1:1 on fresh packs! The multiples on those higher rarities really start to stack up quickly, and I'm definitely hesitant to use them.
The reason I'm so hesitant to use the potions for foils myself is that these Gold Foil rewards will become unlocked as premium foils rather than soulbound as regular foils. I suspect many grinders will prefer to sell the Gold Foils to the market to be able to EARN from their rewards. I'm confident there will be enough demand from the Gold Foil community to provide "prize support" for the people looking to sell off their GF rewards. These are the type of lottery GF rewards that will allow players to monetize their rewards quickly without becoming abusable in large numbers.
Don't forget, the team set limits to cap the amount of Gold Foils of each card by rarity: 5000 Commons, 2000 Rares, 1200 Epics, 400 Legendaries. That's only 100 max legends, 120 max epics, 90 max rares, and 131 commons. I wonder how strong the demand for the rewards will be. Will we end up reaching any of the Gold Foil caps before the Conclave Arcana Reward set ends? Don't want to get caught out when the supply dries up!
Say It Ain't So
Well, no use to worry about that now. In fact, as the title proclaims, I'M NOT DONE WITH REBELLION REWARDS! I'm still missing 1 BCX GF Rare, 3 BCX GF Epic, and 15 BCX GF Legend. I've spent the last 3 months solely focused on landing those elusive Gold Foil Legendaries by buying 2 guarantees each week and snagging 1 batch of Legend draws and 2 batches of Major and Ultimate chests with Alchemy potions.
If you have Rebellion Gold Foils you'd be willing to sell or trade, give me a shout on Discord or X using the same handle! I'm specifically looking for 3 Thana Blade, 1 Grifzi, 2 Gallicus, 2 Frigid Wolf, and 2 Warlord Chieftan. I have plenty of extra Gold Foils in all rarities, including a few GFL like 2 Gibbon, 1 Jinx, and 1 Grauzral.
And Now What With The Regulars?
With Survival going away for repurposing, I have a lot of questions about how to proceed with my regular Rebellion reward cards. With many cards maxed in Gold Foil, I have little use for those duplicates in regular foil without the Survival format. IF I burn some of them now, I'll have plenty of Glint to help me get my collection started for the new set.
Maybe I'll keep a full max set of regular foil and as many as possible of the popular cards used a lot in Survival. If I knew more details about how the new Survival mode worked, I could make better decisions on how to handle my extras.
It definitely serves me well to buy the new reward set early and often, as it powers up my Modern collection for Ranked and Tournament battle. Therefore, I have an incentive to burn the cards as soon as possible to cash them in for new cards.
Are any of you wrestling with how to handle your extra Rebellion Reward Cards ahead of the new Conclave Arcana Reward Cards? I'd love to hear about your strategy in the comments. Don't forget to give me a shout if you have any of those Rebellion Gold Foils I'm looking for. Until next time...

You may have high standards with gold cards, but I felt like you when the Chaos Soulbounds were about to stop, but the Rebellion cards were better overall. There are still some OP Chaos rewards that kick ass though. I burned most of my Gold foil cards just to MAX my common chaos rewards. Looking back it was a big mistake, but they were locked as Soulbounds anyways so who cares right? The new way the gold cards will be rewarded are bad for you but I think they will be good for the community overall and bring excitement back to the game especially if they are very rare and valuable.

Yes, I agree that the change will be for the good of the community. It may be easier to get Gold Foils with many players feeling free to sell into the demand without paying to unstake.
