This week, the team at @splinterlands decided to focus on a #CommunityChallenge to highlight the unsung heroes we use to get an edge in battle. My battles at the top of the leaderboard in Modern Ranked are tight, so any small edge is a welcome addition to my strategic arsenal. You can find my daily Splinterlands content over on @peakd #Snaps, where I share my #TopBattles with a lineup snapshot, battle link, and strategy summary.
Today, my Unsung Hero pairs perfectly with Craniax the Quick, but can carry a battle on its own. It leverages painforge to grow its attack and uses life leech to keep its life total high. I'm talking about none other than Shadowfey Sheik, Death's 6-mana rare unit from Conclave Arcana.
Battle 1 vs. @samwiseg -- Replay Link
Shadowfey Sheik takes center stage in this Lorkus mirror match against SamWiseG in Modern Ranked Champion League. I brought the Craniax + Sheik combo since I was worried about an Ulund bloodline strategy from my opponent. Craniax shuts down any bloodline tribute shenanigans, and Sheik benefits from the reckless attacks from the legendary unit.
My opponent also avoided the hippo team, so it limited the benefit of my Craniax to shutting down the resurgence from Oridum. Well, at least the final rest ability did something. Without silence to shrink Kelan Gaines, my lineup was especially weak to the double-striking snipe attacker. But up stepped Shadowfey Sheik to stem the bleeding. I thought Gaines would tear through my lineup, but once Shadowfey Sheik got to the front of my lineup, it had the health to stand up to Kelan Gaines and take down the W.
Battle 2 vs. @asiand -- Replay Link
In this Born Again battle, neither I or my opponent Asiand, wanted to bother with the recurring resurrection of all of the units, so we both turned to Craniax to turn off that ability. While he leaned into the corrupted healing of Deep Delver to stem the bleeding from the reckless attack, Shadowfey Sheik turned the damage each round into a power boost.
When I looked at the lineups and saw the corrupted healer, I thought I was in a bit of trouble. They brought two silences to stifle most of my magic attack. I wasn't sure if my phase ward ploy on Redwyrm Dragon would be enough to slow down my opponent's onslaught. But luckily, it bought me plenty of time to power up Shadowfey Sheik's magic attack. With the combination of reckless and painforge, Sheik ended the battle with a 10-power magic attack!
Battle 3 vs. @synist3r -- Replay Link
Once again, Shadowfey Sheik showed up in tandem with Craniax during my team selection. With life available, I wanted Craniax in my lineup to thwart any bloodline tribute shenanigans from my opponent. And wouldn't you know it, I had the perfect counter to the Ulund team from Tales.
With my opponent's battle strategy effectively turned off by final rest, I still needed a way to close out the battle before their magic attack tore through my slow lineup. Today's unsung hero, Shadowfey Sheik, is the right unit for the job. Like I mentioned in open, when Sheik's painforge gets triggered by Craniax's reckless attack, it is a powerful synergy able to take down a battle on its own. Before long, Sheik is the most powerful unit on the board and dominating the battlefield. Just what we like to see from our unsung hero!

Love this! Highlighting those key cards for that extra edge in Modern is clutch 💯
Glad you liked it. Always plenty of battle content from me on PeakD Snaps using the hashtag #TopBattles.
This guy is just fantastic. Considering I don't own Lorkus at max level for that juicy +1 magic and I go with him with Cryptic, I even get some success. Also affliction can break opponents defenses...
Superb post my friend!
Thanks for your support!
Totally agree. This is one of my favorite cards in the set. Also that art is 🔥🔥🔥
Does that mean the secret is out?!
