Greetings to all my fellow players around the world and to Splinterlands. How are you all doing Splinters? Hope you are all doing great.
This week's Community Engagement Challenge Ruleset Revelations is timely because today I happened to experience the new modifier Global Warming.
While on my way to work today I was browsing on Splinterlands community and bump on @saydie's post How To Deal With Global Warming. I was curious because its new so I read till the end. Theres a lot of ways how to adapt or deal with Global Warming, I even commented that he presented it all. Somehow it sink in to me and I understand how it works. But of course understanding and applying in actual battle is not the same, and battle is under time pressure.
This ruleset is almost alike to Incendiary ability present at few cards in Conclave Arcana set. The difference is, in ruleset, all units have the burning status effect at the start of the battle, while in Incendiary only the unit that has this ability have the burning effect and has 33% chance to spread to either adjacent unit. Burning can be cleanse,this is the most crucial thing that I remember earlier when I read the post earlier. And another thing that I realise is that burning will goes directly to health(not armor first), basically its like a poison or the noxious fumes, at least this is how I view it, but theres more to Global Warming, a twist that will surprise us all.
Lets jump in to my battle. This is from bronze level cap, a level playing field for both of us.
We can see from the photo all units have the burning effect.
Its funny because my first experience of Global Warming ruleset is at 19 mana cap which is my weakness😄, the low mana. Can only summon armored units and all has true strike ability from Fire or Life element. I had a hard time choosing from both element, its really hard to fit in low mana battle, I almost run out of time here😄. And finally I settled with Elias Max Pruitt, thinking I can use his ability to my advantage. Then I go for Silverblade Fighter as my tank with his void armor, I was hoping he will be the one to survive. Followed by Skypire Yak, the beneficiary of armor repair and cleanse ability to support my tank and he can attack too at this position because of Flank ability of Silverblade. Then at the last postion is just a random pick of 2 mana card since I'm running out of time.
My enemy, also with 3 cards, picked Fithed Bladestone as his Archon and summoned Cavewise Wayfinder at tank position with reckless and ambush ability, Fizbo the Fabolous at 2nd position with tank heal and and Blazebeard Merc at the last with incediary and charge ability.
Silverblade is the only one without the burning effect. He was cleansed by Skyspire Yak. But....
Now heres the twist of Global Warming, the earlier cleansed Silverblade Fighter has burning effect again and lose 2 health along with all unit, why?, this is just my analysis or guess, since incendiary ability has 33% chance to spread to either unit, perhaps its the same in Global Warming. It will trigger itself to spread to once cleansed unit and will lose two health. Unless, the 33% chance of spreading did not trigger.
Now that is the twist of Global Warming. Lets compare to Noxious Fumes, once cleanse, the poison will not trigger on its own at the beggining of round 2 and the following round, unless it kills a unit with poison burst.
It will be interesting to see a battle if a player has two cleansed unit, one in front and one at the rear, the 33% chance of spreading might not always trigger.
At round three I just win because of the burning effect. My enemy suffers heavily from combine Global Warming and reckless ability from his one unit. You can watch the full battle here.
