Share Your Battle Challenge: Life Sapper | You Don't Want To Be Near Around This Monster.

in Splinterlands2 years ago (edited)

Hey there good fellas of Splinterlands,
How are ya'll doing today? I hope you're in a good mood and in good health.

Coqueror Jacek, another airdrop is over, and just like the previous ones, I didn't get anything against my 'tiny' 9 packs purchase.

4 more airdrops are remaining and I'll try my best to be eligible this time.

Anyway, it's another 'Splinterlands Share Your Battle Challenge' and this week's featured monster is LIFE SAPPER.

Just like the previous challenges, I'll share my best battle of this week using the Life Sapper in my team.
I'll also share my strategy, team combination, and thoughts about the Life Sapper.

So, read on...

THE LORE

share your battle challenge Life Sapper.png

Life sappers are in between life and death. One side of their body is ghostly while the other is alive and well. They are neither fully living nor dead.
They feed off the energies around them, and simply being within view of a Life Sapper will make you feel sick and weak.
They siphon energy from their victims, slowly weakening and sickening them while simultaneously healing themselves.

“Paladins, clerics, and healers of the world don't bother trying to save a Life Sapper as it may be the last thing you'll do.
Hold dear to your worldly bodies and pray to whichever gods you know that you do not become lost in the in-between.”

-- Malaus Dawnforge, University of Illumination Priest

BATTLE STATS AND ABILITIES OF THE LIFE SAPPER

Before I share my strategy and the battle, let's talk about the stats and abilities of this card.

Life Sapper Stats.png

The Life Sapper is a Rare Death unit card from the Chaos Legion edition.
This magic attack card costs 3 mana to use in the battle which makes this card a low-mana-cost card.
Talking about the abilities, this monster has the 'life leech' ability starting from level 1. With this ability, this monster's health increases each time it damages an enemy monster's health in proportion to the damage dealt.
When it reaches level 8, the 'redemption' ability is unlocked. With this ability, when this monster dies, it deals 1 damage to all enemy monsters.
Stats of this card also increases through levels, from 1 magic attack, 2 speeds, and, 2 health in level 1, to 2 magic attacks, 3 speeds, and 2 health in level 4.
At the highest level 8, the stats of this card are 2 magic attacks, 4 speeds, and, 4 health.

What Is The Best Ruleset And Summoner To Use Life Sapper ?

As the Life Sapper is a magic attack monster, therefore, it can be used in any battle except the battles with the 'lost magic' ruleset.
This is a low mana-cost card, but also very fragile in nature as it has only 3 health at max level.
It sure does staking life but after a few hits on the enemy. Therefore you have to make sure that this can remain intact till then.
The best will be using this card in the 'equalizer' and 'little league' ruleset, placing it in the 3rd/4th position and protecting it from sneak attacks.
In this way, it can gather a good amount of health before facing the enemy's attack.
About the summoner to use with this card, as we all know that the death splinter lacks any magic attack buff summoner. Therefore our only bet is to use Delwyn Dragonscale from the dragon splinter if we want to increase its attacking power. Otherwise, this card is a good fit for any death summoner.

My preferred way to use this card is

in the 'little league' ruleset, with the summoner Zintar Mortalis. Because in the 'little league' ruleset, the majority of player uses melee attack team, and Zintar reduces the attack power of the opponent with its -1 melee attack debuff.
Then, use my main attack monsters in the 1st and 2nd position, placing the Liff Sapper in the 3rd/4th position, and protect it with filler cards or any 'thorns' or 'backfire' ability crad/s in the 4th, 5the and 6the position if possible.

THE BATTLE

Now, it's time to share my strategy and the lineup for the best battle I won using the Life Sapper in my team.

RULESET

Ruleset.png

Mana Cap: 14
Stampede: The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled monster is killed.
Equalizer: The initial health of all monsters is equal to that of the monster on either team with the highest base health.
Active Splinter: Water, Death, Dragon.

My Strategy and Team Setup

As one of the rulesets was 'equalizer', and the battle was a low-man-cap one, therefore it was perfect to use the Life Sapper in this battle.
In the 1st position, I used the Giant Scorpion because of its 'thorns' ability and 2 armor.
In the 2nd position, I used another 'life leech'ing monster the Venari Bonsmith. The 'poison' ability was an extra benefit for my team.
I used the Life Sapper in the 3rd position and protect the backside with a good filler card, the Furious Chicken in the 4th and position.

So, here was my team combo -

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

My strategy worked perfectly in this battle.
Using the Zintar Mortalis as the summoner was the best idea as my enemy used a melee attack-based team just like I thought.
The Giant Scorpion did a great job as a tank and eliminated even the last monster of the enemy team without getting itself killed.
The Venari Bonesmith did great as an attacking monster with its 2 magic damages and a few drops of poison here and there, and in the meantime gathering a large chunk of health.
The Furious Chicken acts good as a back-row tank and absorbed some damage until it dies and the Life Sapper takes over his place.
Then the Life Sapper takes good damage from the enemy team and at the same time deals good magic damage.
This team brings the win to my side.

A Few Words About The Life Sapper

This 3-mana-cost monster, the Life Sapper can be a game changer for certain rulesets and conditions.
Its 'life leech' ability helps him to retain for a longer time in the battle by leeching the enemy's health.
The 2 magic attack is also very effective in 'little league' ruleset where the majority of the enemy monsters have low to mid
health points.
And in the 'equalizer' ruleset, this monster can go a long way. In some battles, I saw him gather as much as 18 health. Well, that's a huge amount of health.
I always keep a Life Sapper ready in my arsenal.
