We will not have a Town Hall this week, however, there have been two very interesting PeakD posts by Matt so far this week already. I won't go over them in this post but you can go check them out Splinterlands Ranked Reward Changes - Introducing Glint & The Reward Shop! and Modern Format & ToS Updates . Both of them are very, very important topics related to our beloved game so be sure to have a look at them. Anyhow, we'll look at one of the new Monsters in the set and how she is used in battle. The Monster is one which I have been using relatively often in higher mana battles when the I choose to play the Water Element.

Now before we get into the stats discussion of Endura Brune, let's have a sneak peek into her LORE.

So, Endura Brune is a lamataur and is the daughter of the Drybone sultan Eternan Brune, and is most likely also a very good swimmer since she represents the Water Element on the battlefield.

Alright, we've got some idea of who Endura Brune is, after glancing at her lore. Let us have a look at her stats and abilities at different key levels now.

  • Endura Brune is a Legendary Monster. At level 1 she has 2 Ranged Attack, 3 Speed, 2 Armor and 10 Health and also starts off with the Amplify (Increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire, and Thorns damage to all enemy monsters by 1) ability.
  • At level 2 she gains another nice ability - Silence (Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters).
  • At level 3 she gains 1 more Speed point for a total of 4 and one more ability - Headwinds (Reduces the Ranged attack of all enemy Monsters).
  • Finally, maxed out at level 4 she has 2 Ranged Attack, 4 Speed, 2 Armor and 10 Health. She also gains her final ability, for a total of 4, Swiftness (All friendly Monsters have increased Speed)

    Now that we know what the card does (or doesn't do) at the different levels of play, let us have a look at the battle I have chosen to showcase.

  • The line-up of the Battle and the Ruleset:

The rulesets for this battle are Noxious Fumes (All Monsters start the battle Poisoned), Close Range (Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles) and Stampede (The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed). The mana budget is 57 which is a fairly decent amount so I will be able to splurge a bit more on chunkier Monsters. Three out of six Elements are available - Water, Death and Dragon. I'll go with the Water Element.

The Main Tank for the line-up is Mantoroth. He's a pretty beefy boy with 4 Armor and 11 Health at the cost of 11 Mana which makes him susceptible to Giant Killer (does double damage against targets that cost 10 or more mana). He also has 3 Melee Attack and 2 Speed. In terms of abilities - at max level he has the following ones (in order of appearance): - Shield (reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks), ARMORED STRIKE (Any unit with this ability gains an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using its Armor stat. This allows characters to improvise with deadly force, using their gauntlets, shields, helmets, or perhaps physical attributes (spikes, hard shells, etc) as weapons!), True Strike (this Monster's attacks cannot miss), Repair (restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage) , Blast (does additional damage to Monsters adjacent to the target Monster). He is definitely shaping up to be a pretty interesting card, especially with the New Ability - Armored Strike and the fact that he is a Neutral Card, so he can be included in any Element.

The 2nd spot goes to one of the newish soulbound reward Monsters - Coastal Sentry. It is one of the most oppressive Monsters in the set when used correctly with its abilities - Double Strike (Monster attacks twice each round) and Piercing (if Melee or Ranged attack damage is in excess of the target's Armor, the remainder will damage the target's Health). I currently have it at level 8 but at level 10 it also gains the Knock Out (does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned) ability. I normally use it the seconds spot when paired with Possibilus...

The 3rd spot is for the Baakjira. This is a pretty unusual spot for this behemoth of a card but there's a reason for it, and the reason is that it will get trained how to use Magic specifically for this battle by our protagonist. Other than the 3 Magic attack it will gain it also has a great package of abilities - Void (Reduced damage from Magic attacks), Slow (Reduces the Speed of all enemy Monsters), Strengthen (All friendly Monsters have increased Health) and Heal (Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round). Since the ruleset is Noxious Fumes, Bakjeera is more than adequately equipped to tackle it despite not having Immunity as an ability.

4th in the line-up is Daarg Dreadblast. He's here to quickly teach his neighboring buddies how to wield Magic in order to defeat the enemy team. I hope they are quick learners. Daarg Deadblast is a Legendary Monster. At level 1 he has 3 Magic Attack, 1 Speed, 0 Armor and 5 Health but most importantly he starts off with two very important abilities in the current meta - Weapons Training (Adjacent units with no attack gain this unit's attack, up to a maximum of 3) and Swiftness (All friendly Monsters have increased Speed). At level 2 he gains 1 Health for a total of 6, he also gains another fabulous ability - Triage (Heals the friendly back-line Monster that has taken the most damage). At level 3 he gains 2 more Health points for a total of 8 and also his final ability - Dodge (Has an increased chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks). Finally, maxed out at level 4 he has 3 Magic Attack, 1 Speed, 0 Armor and 8 Health. That additional point in Magic Attack in fact is really, really crucial as he provides that additional point of attack to any adjacent No Attack Monsters.

In the 5th spot is one of the two new Promo cards for the Rebellion Set - the Grimbardun Smith. He is a 6 Mana card with No Attack, 3 Armor and 10 Health. This definitely is quite telling for its purpose, and if you look at the set of abilities he has, you can definitely tell that he will be a pretty good support card with defensive functions. Not quite the level of Almo Cambio but having in mind Almo is going out of Modern, he might be a decent substitute. His skillset includes: Immunity (this monster is immune to negative status effects), Void (reduced damage from Magic attacks), Shield (reduced damage from Melee and Ranged attacks) and Repair (restores some armor to the friendly Monster whose armor has taken the most damage). This time around he will also be trained how to use Magic in order to inflict pain to his enemies. I'm sure he's excited.

Last but definitely not least is Endura Brune whom we have already discussed in a bit more detail in the beginning of the post so there's not much more to add here. She has enough HP and a bit of armor to help her survive a few hits from potential Sneak Monsters on the enemy team so that's not bad at all.

It is time for a quick round by round analysis:

  • The Summoner I am going with for the battle is, as you have probably already guessed, Possibilus. Giving Trample to a Melee-heavy line-up is always cool, however, I'm using Possibilus in this particular battle first and foremost because of the +2 Health it provides to all Monsters on my team. My opponent, on the other hand, has decided to go with Lily for this battle, and they are having the same idea basically - they are buffing their whole team with +1 HP and also are taking advantage of Lily's Triage ability.

  • After 1 round of exchanging blows I have managed to take down the enemy "Salty Bear" and my team is looking significantly better in general. I think my opponent does not stand much of a chance at this point.

  • Round 3 begins and I have not lost a Monster yet but my Mantoroth will definitely not survive this round. That's fine though since my team overall is looking great.

  • Round 4 - all that's left for me is to finish off the enemy Revealer.

Endura Brune is a pretty good new Ranged Support Monster for the Water Element. She is currently being traded at $8.36 per bcx which makes her one of the more accessible cards of this set and that's great since she does do a very good job in a lot of situations.
