🔥💧 Day 38 in Splinterlands: From Bronze II to Silver III with Fire and Water Splinters

in Splinterlands • last month

It’s been 38 days since I returned to playing Splinterlands, and today turned out to be one of my most productive days so far. I spent most of my time grinding in the Modern format, where the pool of cards is incredibly competitive.

I started the grind from Bronze II, and after a streak of battles—some good, some frustrating—I finally climbed my way up to Silver III. This is a huge milestone for me because it feels like I’m slowly breaking out of the Bronze grind trap.

The journey wasn’t easy. Bronze always feels like a place where you’re either underpowered or up against players with perfectly rented lineups. But I kept at it, focusing on learning rulesets and positioning instead of just spamming the same cards over and over.

Starting Point: Bronze II

Milestone: Finally reached Silver III

What made the difference today was renting smart. Instead of trying to rent across too many splinters, I focused on Fire and Water. This allowed me to build more consistent lineups instead of spreading myself too thin.

The Fire Splinter has always been one of my comfort zones. In the Modern format, Fire still delivers reliable offensive power, especially when paired with strong melee cards and aggressive strategies. Renting key Fire monsters gave me:

  1. Consistent melee pressure with Sneak and Opportunity attackers

  2. Decent speed advantages, allowing me to hit first in mid-mana matches

  3. Options in low-mana fights where brute force sometimes beats clever synergy

Water is another splinter that I’ve grown to love during my comeback. With its solid tanks and support, it can deal with tricky rulesets that Fire sometimes struggles with.

By renting Water cards, I was able to:

  1. Use magic attackers to bypass armor-heavy lineups

  2. Employ repair and sustain mechanics to survive longer battles

  3. Adapt to low-to-mid mana matches where Water’s balance really shines

Together, Fire and Water gave me flexibility without overcomplicating my rentals.

Alongside my league progress, I also earned 3,000 Glint today. Instead of saving, I decided to exchange them for 3 Major Chests. Opening them felt exciting—I managed to get some new cards, which I’ll definitely try to combine for next season’s grind.

Glint has quickly become one of my favorite mechanics in Splinterlands because it feels like a steady stream of rewards even when I’m struggling in matches. Win or lose, as long as I keep playing, I know I’m building toward something.

Today reminded me of a few important lessons:

Focus is better than variety. Renting Fire and Water splinters consistently gave me more wins than randomly mixing splinters.

Glint is gold. And those Major Chests can turn into powerful upgrades.

Climbing is gradual. It’s easy to feel stuck, but small milestones (Bronze I → Silver III) prove that progress is possible.

Now that I’ve reached Silver III, I want to hear from other players:

Should I continue renting Fire and Water next season, or should I start investing in other splinters?

For those climbing through Silver, what’s the biggest mistake to avoid?

Do you save your Glint for Legendary Chests, or do you also prefer Major Chests for steady upgrades?

Your tips have been really helpful in my past blogs, so I’d love to hear your strategies for pushing deeper into Silver!

From Bronze II this morning to Silver III by the end of the day, today felt like one of my biggest wins since coming back to Splinterlands. Sure, it wasn’t easy—I had to deal with losing streaks, questionable lineups, and tough opponents—but every match helped me learn a little more.

With 3,000 Glint spent on 3 Major Chests and new cards to combine, I’m ending Day 38 optimistic. The grind is real, but the progress feels rewarding.

Here’s to continuing the climb tomorrow—and maybe one day, Silver won’t feel like the ceiling but just the next step up.
