New Splinterlands Player Here! Take It From Me Why You Should Play!

in Splinterlands5 years ago

Hello everyone! I've played card games almost my entire life and TCGs for 15 years. After spending the last few years grinding away at games like MTG and poker, I wanted to earn from my playing rather than spend for the privilege. If you do choose to spend money on Splinterlands, it ends up not only providing enjoyment from playing with the card, but you can RESELL the cards yourself on the market! No more cracking packs just to hope you get your enjoyment's worth out of them, if you don't enjoy the cards you cracked, sell them! Loving the cards you got? You can buy more and level them up! It provides a system similar to dusting, except you can earn money from the dust instead of be at a guaranteed loss! If you have interest in making money from playing a fun game instead of spending money to do so, this is it!

Sign Up:
Quick and easy, email and address. If you purchase the $10 pack, your account info will be sent to your email and you do not have to worry about wallets, exchanges, etc.

How to Play:
They have a section on the homepage when you sign in to play Splinterlands. The combination of reading that page word by word and playing 5 practice games will provide the best feel for the game's combat. A quick summary is you have a chain of units 1-6, and a summoner that provides various effects and is it's own slot. You can only be one Splinter per game, other than Dragon which lets you use UNITS from one other splinter but no dual summoner. When the unit in square 1 dies, the unit behind it replaces it. Keep that in mind when setting up your initial chain. Melee units attack from tile 1 only, ranged attacks from tile 2 only. Keywords provide exceptions, but that's the general rule. The basic stats are explained well other than speed, which determines your attack priority each round. Seeing as the ability to go first is nearly always advantageous in card games, speed is an important stat that is often overlooked.

Play:
Practice Mode is Vs another player, not a bot. It is mostly people just learning new things with weaker cards, as ranked is the only mode that provides rewards, so the power levels will be lower and as a result games are closer to equal.
Ranked Mode is where you take on another person actively trying to win in order to maintain rank and earn a fractional amount of Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) which you don't have to worry about quite yet. I recommend playing some practice games with each splinter to get a feel for what you like, I main fire if you want a starting point and dragon has some of the most "clearly," good cards.
Now get some games in! My next post will be about how to set up a wallet for DEC and using the market

Please share this post with anyone who has not played Splinterlands but may be interested! It is my first post in a series of walking through the steps of Splinterlands for first-time users
