What are Dark Energy Crystals?
Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) are the official in-game currency of Splinterlands. You can earn them in various different ways in the game and they can be used to purchase all sorts of different items and boosts that can help you to rise to the top of the leaderboard!
How do I get Dark Energy Crystals (DEC)?
There are two ways to obtain Dark Energy Crystals through the game. First, you can convert unused cards in your collection into Dark Energy Crystals by checking the box next to the cards you want to convert and clicking on the Dark Energy Crystal icon. Higher level cards will convert to more DEC than lower level cards, as will as higher rarity cards, and gold foil cards will convert to significantly more DEC than the regular versions. There is also a bonus for Alpha and Promo edition cards.
The second way to obtain Dark Energy Crystals is by winning Ranked Battles. Each player will earn a portion of the current DEC reward pool for each ranked battle win in proportion to their rating. Players with a higher rating will earn significantly more DEC for each win than players with a lower rating. The amount of DEC from each win also depends on the player's current Energy Capture Rate (ECR). The use of Alpha edition or Gold foil cards in battle also provides a bonus to the amount of DEC rewards.
What is the Energy Capture Rate (ECR)?
In order to prevent bot or players who can play 24/7 from earning an outsized portion of the DEC reward pool, the DEC that can be earned with each win is limited by the player's Energy Capture Rate. The ECR starts from 100% for all players and is reduced by 1% after each Ranked battle played. The amount of DEC earned for a win is multiplied by the player's current ECR, so if a player's ECR is at 50% then they will earn exactly half of the DEC that they would have if their ECR is at 100%. Each players ECR regenerates over time at a rate of 25% per day.
What can I do with Dark Energy Crystals (DEC)?
Dark Energy Crystals can be used to purchase Booster Packs and variety of in-game in the shop or to buy cards from other players on the Splinterlands Market. The uses of Dark Energy Crystals will continue to increase as new features are added to the game.
Dark Energy Crystals may also be bought, sold and transferred amongst players and are available for exchange on various third-party platforms. Splinterlands is unaffiliated with any third party exchange, and is not responsible for any issues or loss of tokens that may arise from any third-party platforms.
