Splinterlands | The Ruinkeeper is a good magic thrower at 5 mana - but there’s a catch

Hello Splinterlands fam!

I hope you all are doing well in your lives and enjoying an amazing day with your family and friends while eagerly waiting for the weekend. But, if you are one of those souls who actively play splinterlands and on a regular basis, then I think many of you have already made yourselves busy with this ongoing ranked season and fighting on the battlefield trying to ‘push and shove’ yourself up. If we take a quick peek at the current ranked season’s timer, there are still around 13 days and 6 hours left for this ongoing ranked season to meet its end. So, whatever goal you have set in your mind for this season, whether it is to reach a particular league tier or to enter the champion league and secure a spot in the top leaderboard, I hope you are progressing well with that and utilising the time in hand to maximise your SPS and other reward earnings. With almost 2 weeks in hand, it is a very suitable time, I think, to play in a balanced mode without hurting your battle energy mana, so that you don't miss them when you need them the most. So, best of luck, my fellow warriors, and I wish you reach your goals sooner this time.

On the other hand, it is a fact that most of the existing splinterlands players are playing the new frontier mode passionately and seriously nowadays, because in my experience, I see more and new players getting matched against me all the time and not to mention, many of them already have a competitive deck of foundation cards. So, without a doubt, the frontier gameplay mode is a huge success for splinterlands. Well, the reason behind this quick and massive success lies in the nature of this new mode, because first of all, it is a completely free-to-play mode, where the player does not need to invest, own or rent any cards or other assets to join the game. Surely investing a little upfront in buying foundation cards gives you an upper hand, but it's not a requirement to start playing. So, if you insist, you can literally start playing this new mode for free and start earning rewards in the form of foundation edition cards or packs. The second reason is, of course, the value of these rewards, as you can list your earned cards for sale in the splinterlands market, and though most of them are cheap, if you managed to earn rare gold foils from rewards or even more rare black or arcana foil cards from draws, they can earn you a decent amount of money. Anyway, for me, right now, I am playing at the highest Gold I league tier with a trophy count of 2,940 and having another 12 more days in hand. This time, my goal is to push my trophy count to 4,000 and reach one step closer to the leaderboard. Let’s see how far I can go.

Ruinkeeper

Now, let’s move forward and come to the main topic of this post, as today, I will be talking about another amazing and powerful Conclave Arcana monster with you all. As you have already seen in the thumbnail above, today I will be talking about the RUINKEEPER. So, if you are interested in knowing more about this monster, then let’s take a dive without any further ado.

The Ruinkeeper is a special monster card that is actually an extra type card and falls under the Conclave Arcana edition. This monster belongs to dual elements - Death and Earth, and it comes from the Orc bloodline. By rarity, it is a Rare type card, so you would need a total of 115 CC cards to upgrade it to its max level. In order to use this monster in your battle lineup, you need to spend a 5 mana cost, so you can easily fit this card in your lineup when playing low to medium mana limit matches. Its attack type is magic, and apart from a decent magic attack power, speed and a healthy combo of armour and health, this monster also features 3 very useful abilities at its max level, which I will be discussing later in this post. Let us now take a further look at this card’s league wise stats and abilities to find out more.

BRONZE

At level 2, this monster card possesses 2 magic attack power at 2 speed with 2 armour and 4 health. Apart from that, it also gets an ability called Reckless since its initial level, which is actually a tricky ability that can harm your allied units. So, beware of when you use and how you place this monster in your lineup.

RECKLESS - Each successful attack also deals 1 true damage to adjacent allied units.

SILVER

As this monster gets upgraded to level 4, it receives increased stats, consisting of 2 magic attack power at 3 speed with 2 armour and 4 health. Not only that, but it also gets a new ability at this level called Lookout, which helps its adjacent monster to receive less damage from certain attacks.

image.png

LOOKOUT - Adjacent units take 1 less damage from attackers with Sneak, Opportunity or Snipe. Reduces damage from all enemy ambush attacks by 50% (rounded down).

GOLD

When you upgrade this monster further to level 6, it gets even stretched stats of 3 magic attack power at 3 speed with 3 armour and 6 health. However, though its stats have seen a significant improvement by now, it does not get any new abilities at this league.

DIAMOND / CHAMPION

Finally, when you upgrade this monster to its max level of 8, it receives further enhanced stats, which consist of 3 magic attack power at 3 speed with 4 armour and 7 health. Not only that, but gladly, it also gets a new ability at its max level called Void, which is an exceptional ability to counter enemy magic attacks.

VOID - 50% less damage (rounded up) from magic attacks or 0 damage from magic attacks of 1 power.

Last but not least, I really like this monster, mainly because of its dual enemy feature and also, I always have a soft corner for magic attack monsters. Its abilities - mainly lookout and void will be super helpful in battles, but its reckless ability is a bit tricky. So, you have to think well how to position this monster so, its adjacent monsters don’t get too much damage and actually make you lose the match. In my opinion, it's a powerful card that comes with a low mana cost and the catch is its reckless ability. So, I think this monster needs to be in your collection for competitive playing. Do you have this monster in your collection already and using it, or do you prefer any other monster over it? Let me know below!

I hope you enjoyed reading my post about the Ruinkeeper. Let me know your thoughts about today's post in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
