Hello Splinterlands fam!
Welcome to another fresh Splinterlands post and I hope all of you are doing well in life and eagerly waiting for the weekend to cure all the stress you have accumulated throughout the week. Now, for those who play competitively and on a daily basis, I guess all of you have already collected your season end glint rewards by now and playing actively in the new ranked season already. Taking a look at the clock, we still have 12 days and 22 hours in hand before this season meet its end, but its wise to start pushing your trophies now while maintaining a healthy battle energy bar, because it will sooth your journey and also lower the chances of last minute struggles. So, whatever goal you have set for yourself in this current ranked season, whether it is to reach a certain league tier or to claim a glorious seat at the top champion leaderboard, I hope you reach there easily and faster, but always be careful playing during the last days of season end, because it becomes a bloodbath in the arena during that time.
Now, talking about my own activity in Splinterlands, as I am continue to share in my previous posts, nowadays I am fully focused upon the Frontier mode and playing actively everyday and growing my foundation card collection from the rewards earned. For those who don't know, the Frontier mode is the newest gameplay mode launched just recently by the Splinterlands team. This mode is completely free to play, where you does not require to own or rent or invest in any kind of cards, tokens or any other things. Instead, you can start playing this mode and get a taste of splinterlands without literally spending a dime, while earning rewards for your playing which can be turned into money. In Frontier mode, only foundation edition cards can be used and this type of card can only be generated in the game via rewards earned in campaign mode (single time per user) and in frontier mode. For playing the Frontier mode, you get foundation cards and Frontier entires as rewards and you can choose to either upgrade your cards and level up your gameplay for potentially more rewards, or you can choose to list them in the card market for sale and get DEC token when being sold. So, this mode can be played competitively without spending a dime, but it helps if you buy some foundation cards and upgrade your deck.
Now for me, I am playing this mode for the last 9 Frontier draws and though like everyone else, I also started my journey by playing the campaign mode first that earned myself a handful of foundation cards. Then I used those foundation cards to grind into Frontier mode and started playing, earning more cards and upgrading my collection. However, recently, I have started buying foundation cards from the market to upgrade some of the powerful cards, which as expected, is reflecting results on my gameplay. Right now, I am fighting in Gold I league tier with a current trophy count of 2,720 and this is the highest league tier in frontier mode, but I will keep pushing for a place in the leaderboard. For playing in the Gold league, I won 1 Frontier pack and 3 Raffle Entries per reward mission, so daily, there’s a chance to win max 3 reward missions which will triple your prizes. I recently Saved and opened 37 foundation packs that I shared in my last post and after upgrading some cards after adding the new lot, I was missing the fun because of my low level archon cards, who were not supporting my highest upgraded cards. So, hence I decided to upgrade some of my archon cards to level up my gameplay.
As you can see from the screenshot above, there are total 5 Archons so far in Frontier mode and each of them are of Rare rarity and costs the same 6 mana. There’s one archon cards from each of the elements except for Dragon and Neutral. Now, I have level 2 archons for all these 5 different elements but I wanted to make them level 3. So, one by one c I started checking the missing cards amount and the total required cost to upgrade an archon.
Barthalamas
The first Archon that I looked upon is the Barthalamas and it belongs to the Fire element. This archon gives +1 speed to all friendly monsters and costs 6 mana to be used in battles. Now, to upgrade this card from level 2 to level 3, I would need 10 cards, of which I already have 8. So, I need to only buy total 2 CC cards to upgrade it. Mow, I found 2 single BCX cards being listed for around 0.145$ each and immediately bought them using DEC.
Aurelia
The next Archon card that I focused on is the Aurelia, which belongs to the Earth element and costs 6 mana to be used in battles. It gives +1 health to all allied units and makes your lineup more defensive, not to mention it contains monsters with one of the largest healths in frontier mode. Now, I already had some cards and needed 4 more cards. So, when I checked in the market, I found out 2 cards with 0.219$ price each and 2 more with 0.24$ price each, and I bought these 4 soon after to upgrade my Aurelia to level 3.
Incessant Sage
The next Archon that I eyed upon was from the Life element, the Incessant Sage Archon that also costs 6 mana to be used in battles. It gives +1 armour to all allied units and works best against melee and ranged attacks, not to mention this element has some good sneak and magic cards. Now, for this card, I have some in my collection already and needed only 5 more archon cards. So, I went to check at the market and bought 1 for 0.10$ and rest 4 for around 0.121$ each and without wasting anymore time, I upgrade this archon to level 3.
Thalgrimore
The last archon that I went to take a look upon is the Thalgrimore. This Archon comes from the Death element and costs 6 mana to be used in battles. This Archon gives -1 health to all enemy units, so it works best when you want to weaken your enemy lineup and turn them into easier targets to kill. For this card also, I already had some in collection and needed only 4 more cards. So, I checked and find out 4 cards costing me around 0.20$ each. It was a bit pricy but I decided to buy them anyway and upgraded it soon after.
Overall, all the archons cards together costed me a total of 2.609$ or 4741.05 DEC tokens. As usual, I used the monstermarket.io website to make the purchased and immediately got 60% fee back as cashback in my hive-Engine account, which is around 113.785 DEC. Anyway, let me now use my upgraded archons in the arena and test them, as they are now able to support more powerful monsters.
I hope you enjoyed reading my post about Frontier mode and upgrading my archons. Let me know your thoughts about today's post in the comments section below, and I look forward to seeing you all in my next post.
