Sometimes, you win not because you’re stronger but because you were a little smarter. Games work the same way. It’s not always about power or speed but about finding small tricks that turn the tide in your favor. Even a tiny change in how you play can flip a bad situation into a victory.
That’s why I love experimenting with different rule sets and setups. You never know when a you can discover that new strategy. Suddenly, that becomes your go-to move for tough matches. The fun part of Splinterlands is that every battle teaches you something new if you just pay attention.
So, for this article, I’ll talk about a rule set that kept me guessing how to do it at first until I finally learned how to handle it. I’ll show the strategy I use to win with it, share an actual battle replay where it worked and give a few tips for players still struggling with the same rule set.

Pick one ruleset that gives you trouble (or one you’ve mastered).

Now You See Me - All units have the Camouflage ability.
Now You See Me is an interesting rule set. It creates a situation that makes some unit safe by giving them Camouflage.

Camouflage - Cannot be directly targeted unless in the first position. Does not affect indirect attacks (e.g. Scattershot, Blast splash damage, or Trample) or Wingbreak.
The units having Camouflage can be both a blessing or a curse depending on how you play it. Let me share how I abuse this rule set in my advantage.

Share your best strategy for tackling it.
My best strategy for Now You See Me is using units that can heal others. Since the enemy can only attack your units while in first position, putting them last gives them immense survivability in that battle. The longer your healers are alive, the more value you can get out of them.
Another way to take advantage of this is using other high value units in the last position such as high damage units with low health or those that can benefit from long games such as ones with Life Leech or Scavenger.

In this battle, I have my Arachne Weaver with its Corrupted Healing placed on the last position. Little Sister is also placed far back. This gave the two of them more time to take advantage of their abilities keeping them safe by providing a position where no one can touch them.
As expected, even though the enemy has a better overall damage, I still won because the damage they do was healed every round.

Offer advice for newer players who might struggle with that ruleset.
If you are struggling in Now You See Me rule set and if you don't mind spending some money to either buy or rent cards, these cards below can help you:
- Buttercup Mauler
- Mad Kaboomist
- Decrepit Windseer
- Boring Hobgoblin
- Bellowmancer
On higher levels, they have Reveal ability which directly counters and remove Camouflage.

Reveal - Each round applies Revealed to a Camouflaged enemy unit. Revealed units can be targeted by direct attacks.
This removes Reveal and allows you to use your devious tricks once again like Sneak, Opportunity or Snipe when the Camouflage is removed.

Which ruleset do you find the hardest to play—and how do you adapt your lineup when it shows up?

Healed Out - All healing abilities are removed from Units and Summoners.
For me, Healed Out is one of the trickiest rule sets to deal with. Losing all healing completely changes my strategies as I rely on them a lot of times along with my Taunt units. My first few matches in this rule set always felt like my team just died too fast without any heals.
Now, I can adapt by going all-in on armor and damage units instead of healing. Abilities like Shield and Void Armor became my replacement for sustain since they reduce damage instead of recovering it. It’s still tough sometimes but I’ve learned to treat it like a race. Win fast before you get worn down.
