A couple of days ago Splinterlands announced another promotion card players can potentially earn. This one appears to gear more toward how skillful a player is rather than simply owning the right cards.
In order to have an opportunity to earn this card players can purchase Lucky coins to accumulate enough and purchase the card. The ways to earn the coins are as follows:
It does appear one is required to spend in order to earn any Lucky coins. Notice Frontier is not ever mentioned in earning coins. The closet would be direct purchase from Guild Shop, but as of now there is no option available.
Its nice to see that even if a player does not draw a prize with their fortune passes it can still amount to some value such as Lucky coins and then swap for cards. This on one hand will mean more rewards for all investors in tickets and what could potentially be another avenue of earning new cards.
What I do not like is that the theme of spending to earn more continues. This consolation prize is to lure players to feel better in purchasing in bulk so that even if they don't pull a winner they can still go home with a card if they had purchased enough fortune passes. Spend spend spend.
Each 1 bcx new card can be swapped with 500 tokens. This is no easy order as it would take 200,000 tokens to max a card. Each pass is 125 DEC which equates to 25,000,000 DEC in passes alone. Of course I doubt someone would simply buy the passes for the sake of earning this card and making it max level.

At least they have a chance of getting something even if they don't win the main draw. I think it's pretty good, and better than nothing.
