Its been a long time coming and I got very lucky this morning. I was able to pull a legendary gold foil card in the Fortier format. I achieved this while using alchemy potion each time for may reward chests but under the bronze league. I also only play through to first three chests and with the third always a ticket it comes down to 10 - 14 chests a week. Odds were stacked against me and here I am able to get another one.
Reflecting back my first ever gold foil legendary happened over five years ago.

Back then my collection in total was approximately $600 at a tune of 300k Collection Power. The gold foil legendary at the time, Spirit Miner, was 1/4 of my total net worth so you can imagine how thrilling it was at the time to pull such a card. To also state my earnings back then versus today its an understatement. With all the bearish trends in altcoins and Splinterlands I am pretty sure I still pull more tokens today than five years ago. My net worth in Splinterlands by cards alone is already 10x that from five years ago.

Looking at the odds for me to pull this card is just insane. There is less than 1% chance to pull a legendary and on top of that 2% of those likely be a gold foil. The use of alchemy potion boosts the gold foil chances to 4% but still odds were still stacked against us.

The gold foil card is currently priced $2.49. With only 93 in circulation I am still amazed at the odds for me to have pulled such a card. Its thrilling! We play the game for days like today. I am an example of what players can earn just by being dedicated. I rarely get on discord let alone Splinterlands' Town Halls but I would not stop playing the game on a daily basis. Whether it is rank battles, brawls, or adjusting land resources I would check in daily and the results speak for themselves.
In the past I have posted my thoughts that the game was transitioning more and more towards a pay to earn kind of game versus the early days where its play to earn. The gold foil I pull technically bares no value whether CP or PP.

However with how legacy assets in Splinterlands has risen over the years there is still chance that cards presently earned will someday be worth a lot more down the road. I am going to save this card and see how it performs a few years from now. Maybe I would be lucky enough to pull another one and be able to make a post like this again, hopefully not another five plus years though.
Until next time thanks for reading!!!

Wow, that is a sharp price decrease. A lot of the legacy cards have dropped, and I have only gotten GFL from opening packs. They were pretty amazing though, and I just think that legacy cards aren't as useful. It's too bad though.
The prices are currently so low that people have lost interest in the game and have even stopped playing, but if prices pump up again from here, a lot of people will join the game again.
