When it comes to finding a deal on cards its very often difficult to snag a bargain in today's markets. There are simply too many players watching the markets and some are programmers who automatically snags the bargains before the card stays on the market for average player to see.
I am just me without using any program to automatically purchase cards. Yet I do it the old fashion way and one method I use is going through Peakmonster's filters in the card market. I like to use the cost above burn ratio and have recently seen some below 2x. At 1x it means the card is literally equal to the DEC burn price or better yet breakeven. This was difficult to see coming since the game boomed last summer, however we maybe on are way to seeing breakeven prices.
Currently there are (9) cards under 2x burn rate price per 1 bcx. All are rewards cards but still its a good start in price declines. Outside of rewards at the lowest ratio is Chaos Legions and they go at above 4x burn rate.
The great thing about seeing higher ratio to DEC burn rate means the cards are holding up value. In Chaos commons alone they are at 10x burn rate.
Another useful tool in peakmonsters buy tab is each card the website can list out the amount sold in the past day, week, and month for comparison.
A good way to gauge the card's price is seeing the amount of cards sold the most at what price. The peakmonster site charts this on every card up to one month.
Conclusions
Back before Splinterlands was a hit there were not much of any tools to search for markets to know if a card is a bargain. Players simply took what they saw from experience to know what would be a bargain and what was too expensive.
Nowadays there are more tools like those of peakmonsters to help players go through the market in search of what is the next best cards to purchase. It has its perks with drawbacks. Most major drawback is that the cards that are indeed a bargain tend to be sold much sooner.

Some of those cards look to be quite useful but I wonder whether or not it's worth it. The supply for these new reward cards and chaos legion is kind of crazy.

I felt the same way with the first ever reward cards. Then the supply of them became small once players leveled up the cards. Those reward cards are now close to a $1 per bcx. Insane how much I could have profited if I bought just reward cards.
