Although dragon summoners are not the strongest in the game the monsters are and there are plenty of dragon monsters to choose from. This is likely why the rarity of the dragon cards are often higher than other splinters. In fact dragon splinter has the most legend monster cards than any other splinter.
In this post I will review a battle where I was using a dragon splinter against another dragon splinter. Some of the oldest dragon cards were used in the battle and it will be interesting to see the end results.
The Battle

A 36 mana battle with rule sets Explosive Weaponry and Trade Sides. Basically all monsters have blast ability and no neutral monsters allowed.
Formations
My opponent led off with Selenia Sky, the first legend dragon summoner ever in the game. The card is one of the most sought after summoners due to its lack of supply. Their monster formation was respectable as this was a gold league rank battle. They start off with promo Red Dragon, followed up with Gold Dragon, Dragon Jumper, Pirate Captain, Scale Doctor, and ending with Pirate Archer. All the monsters were level 3 and higher so my opponent have a pretty well invested set of cards on hand. I would bet though all these monsters would have been at max level if it were not for the gold league limits. (I play mostly in the gold league so not often do I see near max level formations.)
On my own end I played Splinterlands with the start of zero invested and worked my way up. I am not a solid player so had to save my way through getting cards I have. I was very fortunate to even own a Kretch Tallevor level 5 epic summoner. I saved all my Kretch won in rewards over the months ever since it started printing and this is still my highest level dragon summoner. For monsters I went off with water splinter's Frozen Soldier followed up by my own Gold Dragon, Ruler of the Sea, Serpentine Mystic, Lightning Dragon, and end it with Fire Spitter. All of my cards except for Frozen Soldier and Gold Dragon were max level cards so when put in play they were close to max in stats.
Round 1

In an interesting start my Serpentine Mystic's slow likely help significantly with my formation knocking out both my opponent's Red Dragon and Gold Dragon within the first half of round one. In return by the end of the round I had lost my Gold Dragon and my Frozen Soldier was down to its last few health and no toughness.
Round 2

My formation continue to inflict carnage against my opponent as round two cleared way for my decisive victory. Again my Serpentine's slow gave my formation an upper hand in attacking first and knocking out Pirate Captain and then Dragon Jumper and to end the round Pirate Archer. While my Frozen Soldier was holding on to dear life but manage to survive making it a lopsided five monsters against one. On top of all that their Dragon Scale was down to 1 health.
Conclusions
Without much more the battle ended at the beginning of round three and I was victorious. A dragon battle in its true form is swift and brutal. Each attack was big in damage whether it was from me or from my opponent hence the barely three rounds of bout.
I will say the unsung hero of this match is no other than my Serpentine Mystic. A reward card that maybe often overlooked because the stats don't show much of a powerful dragon.

But once it reached level 5 its slow ability help handicap my opponent from being first to attack. Instead my formation went and did their thing and went first creating massive damage in my opponent's entire formation.
In addition I praise for my Frozen Soldier who although not a dragon was able to withstand the front assaults by my opponent. Not often do you see a tank card survive through the entire match. Even more amazing was how it manage to make it to the end while my opponent's Red Dragon was the first monster to be knocked out in the match.

Although its not exactly tank monster versus tank monster it still amazes me that a 1 bcx epic dragon card in Red Dragon selling for $250 in the open market is not as good as a 1 bcx rare water card in Frozen Soldier selling for $17. Of course its not comparing apples to apples as levels of the monsters are applicable too, however it still is a good example of showing that not having an expensive card means your odds of winning are staked against you. Instead it is important to figure out where best to put the monsters you have to use and how to put certain monsters together to make a great formation.
Hope you all enjoy a fast and explosive dragon battle that I had recently.
Until next time thanks for reading!!!

I just helped my friend @dynamicrypto buy a bunch of cards. I woke him up and showed him the few affordable Gold epic and rare cards left. He ended up buying way more than he should have at the detriment of his dec stake😅
Hopefully after sending him this post via email he will better understand the game a little better. He just started yesterday and already learning a lot. I also sent him yesterday's post from ya about card minting. Dude you make killer SL's posts! So helpful!
