To the victor goes the spoils. Grumpy Dwarf is from the Beta neutral series and ever since I saw it I have not done much with it. Later on as time passed I decided to get as many gold foil beta neutral as possible on the premise of building a mid level deck that encompass beta neutrals. At the time Grumpy Dwarf was one of the least expensive cards in the beta series so it worked out to get a gold foil version.
I would not use the card much and currently rarely use the card. It has reach ability that allows it to use melee attack at second position. However even with that I went with other cards besides Grumpy Dwarf. The neutral just did not have enough in stats to make me use.
However since this post is about the use of the Dwarf I will post a battle of me facing one. This is an interesting battle because this is one of those were the Great Yodin Zaku loses. Yes it loses!
The battle is restricted to three splinters: Fire, Water and Life. The rule set is no legend monsters and mana limited to 28.
Formations
I went with life formation and started with Silvershield Paladin followed by Prismatic Energy, Feral Spirit, Silvershield Bard, Silvershield Assassin and Ooze. I was focusing to outlast my opponent with defense. We shall see how this goes.
My opponent leads off with Yodin Zaku as their summoner. They start off with Living Lava follow up by Grumpy Dwarf, Bettle Queen, Kobold Miner, Imp Bowman and ending with Goblin Fireballer. The formation look as aggressive as any fire lineup with Yodin Zaku. A combination of melee, magic, and range attacks this is a formidable formation to face even with a 28 mana limit.
Round 1
Ooze's slow in speed helped me attacking my opponent and in turn was able to knock out Goblin Fireballer. While also weakening Beetle Queen. My formation still stands whole even with slightly lower health.
Round 2
In another round my Feral Spirit's and Assassin's sneak ability leads the way knocking out a few more opponent's monsters. In addition Prismatic energy neutralized the Beetle Queen.
Round 3
In the end of round 3 my Paladin finally falls but in return my opponent is down to Living Lava. I have the advantage 5 versus 1 in monsters. It is clear that slowing down my opponent while having sneak ability definitely helped.
Round 4
There you have it knock out of Yodin in four rounds while 5 out 6 of my original monsters still stands.
Conclusions
The Grumpy Dwarf was knocked out pretty swiftly with my Assassin double strike, poison, and sneak. The real star of this battle is the Assassin. While I do admit some luck was involved as certain attacks from my opponent turned into misses.
My formation had sneak and slow that definitely helped in beating my opponent. This is good insight to have when facing Yodin. The fact that range monsters will likely be near the rear or at the rear a good ability to try nullifying Yodin is sneak ability. Then with slow it allows my monsters to attack first. The crucial part here is my monster's health was overall higher than my opponent and that my monsters have toughness.
Definitely a memorable fight not in the fact of the use of Grumpy Dwarf but in the fact that there are ways to beat Yodin Zaku. Another part likely helping me with the win was my monster's levels. It appear they were only level 1 as in Living Lava and Kobold Miner. With low level monsters they already start off with a disadvantage.

i think grumpy dwarfs usability is really low especially at level 1 because there's much better cards with reach ability. or most of the times we would rather go with sneak snipe or oppurtunity abilities. maybe your opponent just used the dwarf because it fits the mana pool.
They had a level 8 Grumpy Dwarf in the formation and correctly used as its placed in second position. I would say there are indeed better cards to use but still this was suppose to be a decent play with the card. Oh well I don't mind wining. !LUV and !PIZZA

I have not used this card much either but I do make use of other sneak ability monsters as they are really good to position on 2nd position and attack.
