Hiya Splinterlanders :)

Description:
Magic units may not be used in battle.
Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks.
Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks.
Units with 2 types of attack (which include magic) cannot be used.
Firstly, the description of the ruleset in the game is not perfect, sometimes you got just general information which not giving you all information you need. Best way to read the full description as above from the game documentation at least once. You can check all here.
I seriously encourage you guys to check this site with all the links above, even more advanced players could find something interesting there.
Lost Magic is quite similar to any ruleset where one of the three available damage types was limited. You do not need to worry about any magic damage, so it is much easier to concentrate on countering both two remaining. That's why on the official description above there are a lot of tips related to counterplay. Another thing that is more important in that kind of fight is armor. You cannot avoid hitting it, so usually, it is a good idea to try to have some option to destroy it with rust or shatter ability. I think all those rules apply to our today's battle, let's jump there:

Our battle is a silver ladder fight, not so very common around here. Usually, my bot does a dirty job here :), but sometimes I play some manual battles in modern and that is one of those.
Both teams look very solid, I think there are plenty of tactics which was described in official documentation. We have Return Fire from Ilthain, Headwinds from Quix, and some thorn damage. Additionally, because of snipe ruleset, both players used martyr cards to get some easy boost to adjacent monsters. At first glance, our team has some advantage because we don't have any range units, and our summoner counters quite heavily opponent's team. Let's see how it will end.
Round 2, my sneak monsters team seems quite strong, unfortunately, we only managed to kill Chaos Agent, the rest of our 3 attacks just missed the target. Speed is important, but this round was quite unlucky, it's only 20-30% of miss chance, and we couldn't hit even once :(. The opponent killed out martyr card, so this is good news for us :).
Round 3, despite the fact that we again missed almost all our sneak attacks (but this time because of the flying ability the chances were much higher), was still a good round for us. We killed a tank and then an ugly Supply Runner with the speed boost. So I hope next time we will have more luck with hitting ;).
Final blow - this time every hit has reached his target, and with a clever melee strategy we avoid killing the martyr card for the whole fight, which could be crucial here. The battle is ours :)

In the end, even though both teams look solid our advantage here was huge. There are two reasons: first our summoner countered most of the opponent's damage and the opponent's summoner ability was almost useless besides the speed bonus. Second thing snipe ruleset, we only use the martyr card which was the perfect target to get buff fast. And because we haven't used any range units, the opponent's martyr card wasn't killed till the last round. And you know what is my opinion here, we live in martyr meta :).
Another thing worth mentioning both of us use almost all tactics against two left damage types of that battle: shatter, thorn damage, return fire, and headwinds (only demoralize which on silver level is not so common :) )
Let's check major card choices here:

We have talked quite a lot about Lost Magic ruleset, that fights showed that a good counter could be a great thing, but if you miss there is almost no way to recover. For silver-level play I think it's still a stone, paper, scissor game, in the higher league it seems that you can be prepared for more dangers and still have a solid team.
As I mentioned in the first place, recently we have had quite a difficult time with the whole Splinterlands ecosystem. Before we have some interesting changes, SPS requirements, and bot bans, of course, it's still not so many changes related to gameplay, but still, something was just happening, Now almost everyone waits for lands, another thing on the quite long waiting list is Soulkeep tower defense game. For me, it could be some distraction, but I really wait for some huge gameplay features - draft mode tournaments, game pass etc. I am patient, but is it patient enough? :)
I hope you like this kind of battle and strategy presentation. More strategy analysis, discussion, and prediction games you can find on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. You can check the schedule here

We continue our game from the previous week, today new battle, new card to win :).
I come to some idea, I hope you will like them and participate. Every week I will publish one battle, and your goal is to point out the first victim of the battle and who will be the winner. This game is exactly the same as my prediction game which I run on my Wednesday Splinterlands.tv stream. I know that not everyone can attend the stream, so I hope you will still have fun in that way. More about the rules can be read here.
Among all participants who get the correct answer, I will randomly (probably on my Wednesday stream) choose one winner.
The prize of the blog prediction game for the lucky winner will be the epic card:

Here we got the battle:

Game instruction:
Try to point out which monster will die first on the battlefield and who wins the battle
- t - top player
- b - bottom player
- number - order counting from the first position
Examples:
t2b = monster on the second position of top player die first, the bottom player wins
b6t = monster on the sixth position of bottom player die first, the top player wins
t3t = monster on the third position of top player die first, the top player wins
