My entry into the new world of Splinterlands: The experience of creating my own Avatar and Exemplar

in Splinterlands2 days ago

How are you all my friends? Splinterlands is not just a card game for me; it is a battlefield of strategy, patience and community for me. That's what I always think. But for so long, we were just individual players behind the scenes, where our only identity was our username and battle history. But this week everything changed. By introducing the "Avatars and Exemplars" system, Splinterlands has completely redefined the idea of representing ourselves in the ecosystem. Which I think is pretty cool.

So today, when I saw the announcement of the Community Engagement Challenge, I knew I had to participate. Not just for the prize, but to capture the moment of creating my own digital identity or 'identity' within the game. So I didn't delay too long and immediately went to create an avatar on my account. Friends, today I will show you how I created my Avatar and how I designed my first Exemplar card. I think you will like it,t and you too can easily create your own avatar by reading my article.

Bloodline Selection

First of all, I opened my account and clicked on the profile option. When I entered the introduction display screen, I felt like Iwas playingg a high-stop RPG game wherein a man or woman's adventure is the most critical part of the game. Believe me, it truly is precisely what I felt at the start. Splinterlands has several bloodlines and lineage alternatives for us, including Elves, Orcs, and Dwarves. We can pick whoever we need and create our own layout.

To be honest, I was very tempted to choose the Elf bloodline at first. Their appearance and their connection to magic seemed like they would be suitable for a high-mana Magic deck. Their design was quite interesting.

However, after some thought, I decided to choose the Human bloodline. According to the lore of Splinterlands, humans are known for their adaptability. They can adapt to any environment, which fits my gameplay style perfectly. No matter what ruleset comes up in battle, I always try to adapt. That's why I chose this.

Creating the look: a combination of fire and nature

After setting the bloodline, the real fun began. I customised the look. I wanted an avatar that looked confident and strategic, but also stylish.

I spent a lot of time adjusting the facial features. I chose the "Everyman" hairstyle but dyed my hair bright red. For me, red is a symbol of battle intensity and aggression, which I always like, Which is important for players in the Silver or Gold league. I haven't had the luck to go Gold yet, but I have gone Fortune More, so I designed this avatar.

However, I chose green for the outfit. It creates a nice contrast. You could say it's an expression of my love for Earth Splinter, which I really like for its healing and tanking abilities.

I chose "Calculating" for the eyes and "Smirk" for the facial expression. Why? Because when I go into battle, I want my opponent to know that I have a secret plan to win.

The final look of the avatar on my profile is given below. It's great to finally put a face next to the name MIRZAIQI.

Exemplar: Creating my own card

In my opinion, the most revolutionary part of this update is the Exemplar. It's not just a profile picture; it's a playable card that I can use in real battles. I was feeling pretty stressed when it came to deciding on its stats or abilities!

I didn't want to make a generic card. I wanted something that would fill a specific gap in my deck. So I decided to make a Ranged Attacker.

Initially, I had to balance my skill points very carefully by looking at the stats. I started experimenting with the sliders. I realised that it was important for a Ranged card to have survivability, as they often get targeted first by "Snipe" or "Opportunity" abilities.

In the image above, you can see how I designed the card step by step:

Mana Cost (4): I increased the mana a bit. Very versatile for a 4 mana card game. It's perfect for the "Little League" ruleset (where only cards that cost 4 mana or less can be played), which is one of my favourite rulesets.

Speed (3): Speed is king in Splinterlands. I moved it to Speed 3 so that my Exemplar wouldn't be the last to attack. Slow ranged units often die before they can get a shot.
Armour (2) & Health (3): This was a very important decision. Giving him armour will allow him to protect himself from sneak attacks from melee monsters. This extra protection can often make the difference in a close match.

Attack (1 Ranged): While the damage isn't very serious, the combination of constant attacks from the backline and good defence is a great formula for winning.

Badges and Pride

Finally, the update also adds a new badge system. I proudly display my "Year Joined 2025" badge.

This is the beginning of a new era for me. Although I have fought many battles in Silver and Gold ranks, this badge represents my commitment to the future of the game.

My final words on this system

In my opinion, the "Avatars & Exemplars" update is exactly what Splinterlands needed right now. It adds a touch of RPG (Role-Playing Game) to our beloved tactical card game.

  1. Identity: This removes the feeling of being a bot or nameless. Now I can see my opponents for who they are.

  2. Economy: I find myself upgrading Exemplars by spending Glint and other resources in the game. This is very healthy for the game's economy.

  3. Strategy: The ability to customise your card stats means the game's meta is changing. You can no longer fully predict your opponent's strength just by looking at the card name—because each Exemplar is unique.

I'm ready to take to the battlefield with my red-haired, green-vest-wearing Archer. If you see MIRZAIQI in the Arena, be prepared for a tough fight!

How did you like my Exemplar build? Which one did you choose—magic, melee, or ranged? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
