Hey everyone, two Splinterlands posts today! That's what happens when life gets in the way and I'm not making my first post in Thursdays! 😅
So, it's been 43 minutes since I made my Social Media post in which I ended the post with 'I first need to grind some more battles before making my second post... so, two coffee's and 9 battles later to get my 5 more daily wins in later, it's time to make this post before I will grind on for the last 5 wins for today!

So, look who I met in my grind!

Sharing the battle

Some ruleset combinations are more difficult than others, and this was one of those that wasn't very obvious what I was going to play, with void and return fire, a heavy melee team is favored but with even stevens the choice in cards is even more limited, in cases like these I think my broad collection of cards helps me a lot and with the dual splinter archons from Rebellion we have more options, well in this case it was the combination with the Dragons that gave me more options.

In the previous battles I could see my opponent had the same level deck as me so it would be an even playing field, but because they rotated different teams (which a good player does all the time to not get countered) there was no way in telling what I would be up against so I just concentrated on making a great team myself, this battle was definitely not a standard one!

First look at the battlefield:

Well that archon giving Void to it's bloodline is a bit overdone with the void ruleset, and it's team is only limited to the Fire splinter this way, probably they don't have Rebellion dual element archons for cases like these, we just can't have it all, I don't have any Conclave Arcana archons except for Sheng Xiao.

Looking at the enemy team, I don't think there's a lot of danger of me losing this fight.

I first started with lining up some strong melee units but then I found myself with a lot of spare mana and no other good melee units to choose from, so I figured I could still use magic as long as they had three or more attack so it would get rounded down to 2 damage, it's still not great but better as lining up archers and having the damage returned to them.

My Line-Up:

  • Archon: Sheng Xiao - reason: Poison Burst as a fail safe when my front line gets killed.
  • First position: Drybone Megalodon - reason: High damage with retaliate.
  • Second position: Pallus - reason: Good damage with Reach.
  • Third position: Rage - reason: Fast, Flying, high HP and high magic damage.
  • Fourth position: Mindless Thrall - reason: Fast with good magic damage.
  • Fifth position: Mad Ogre Anarchist - reason: Opportunity with ok damage.
  • Sixth position: Chuma Marandu - reason: High damage sneak unit.

The Battle:

Tactics and Ambush round: Well, putting a unit with reckless in the second position isn't the best idea because now it damages two friendly units when it attacks, of course it still does a lot of damage itself so maybe it's still a good trade off. I've put my Poison Burst on the first two units since my opponent didn't use anything to kill off my low HP units with sneak, snipe or opportunity.

image.png

Round 1: Well both tanks died, which is to be expected since it's a great card but it doesn't have a lot of HP. Unfortunately the Poison Burst didn't spread to adjacent units.

image.png

Round 2: One more enemy card down, and not a lot of damage to my team this round.

image.png

Round 3: Pallus is about to be killed, by Rage is a good backup tank so no worries...

image.png

Round 4: This time, the Poison Burst did spread out, finish them!

image.png

Round 5: Almost done...

image.png

Round 6: And the poison killed the last unit at the start of the round! It's a win!
