Good morning inhabitants of Praetoria and Splinterlands fans, it's a Saturday morning for me and while it's still dark outside (the dark days before Christmas...) it's a good moment to make another Splinterlands blog post, and it's my first one for this week so I'm a bit late again, but hopefully not TOO late to miss the upvote from the Splinterlands team!
Since about two weeks now, I decided I'm saving up my blogging earnings for Zyrx at level 2 which is around $20 at current price, so far... I'm at $11 in HBD so I'm half way there, time to make another post!

Social Media Challenge

The topic for this weeks Social Media Challenge is the same as last weeks, to make a post about ANYTHING awesome in the world we play in but I sometimes literally live in, well at least in my head 😅 with everything going on in this awesome world.
🔥 Share Your Most Remarkable Splinterlands Moments: Do you possess a battle of epic proportions that deserves to be seen by all? Have you crafted something extraordinary within the Splinterlands realm? Maybe you've got profound thoughts, insights, or strategies related to stats, cards, abilities, or gameplay that are waiting to be shared? We want it all, and we want it to be nothing short of AMAZING!
To find out how you can participate in this challenge yourself, check out the official Splinterlands post here.
So, before going to the main topic of this post, I first want to mention something else that was quite amazing and it wasn't the first time...

Both guilds got the first position again in the Splinterlands brawls, dominating their tiers. They could probably move up another tier but leveling up is expensive, even with DEC being low valued lately and our funds can be spend in so many awesome ways, with a guild overhaul coming in the near future let's first see what this will all be, I think many guilds face the problem of the lack of active players to fill frays, something we mostly solved by creating alt account but of course you still need the cards for that... Hopefully there will be a way guilds can start working together or merge or something like that!

Pulling a new legendary
Every end of season I buy at least one Legendary draw since the legendaries are the hardest to earn. With 70k Glint the price is steep but like this I will at least increase my deck strength every season.

So with the latest end of season, I pulled Savaketh which was very welcome because I could use a high HP magic attacker to protect my front line behind the tank, at position two or three, backed up my Arachne Weaver to heal them all.
In my mind, Savaketh was from the same race as Barashkukor but it turns out the latter is a Fiend and not a Tideborn!

Sharing a battle
Well.. let's see some action! After all, what is a Splinterlands post without some kind of action in it!?

The battle I saved to share was one from earlier this season, I could see my opponent owned a Gold level Lorkus and with the Briar Patch ruleset it was kind of obvious that they would play Lorkus again, since my deck is Silver level I would start this battle with a disadvantage already, hopefully I can make up for this by anticipating their strategy in playing a Lorkus heavy magic team...
First look at the battlefield:

Yeah, I was right! ONLY magic but the tank, but it has low HP and I can expose the Shield ability with my Archon tactics, let's go!
Now that I think of it, Arachne Weaver was unavailable in the ruleset for me because it doesn't have enough HP but Anast Soothsayer has cleanse to counter the Affliction Lorkus brings so it's a better choice anyway!
My Line-Up:
- Archon: Cryptic - reason: Counter playing Lorkus, Water / Death has the best set for this!
- First position: Ulundin Overseer - reason: Big meat shield with Flank.
- Second position: Commander Slade - reason: Heavy melee damage, immune to the Thorns.
- Third position: Savaketh - reason: More high HP to protect my front with a healer backing them up.
- Fourth position: Anast Soothsayer - reason: Heal and Cleanse.
- Fifth position: Endura Brune - reason: Amplify Thorns damage and Silence.
- Sixth position: Daigendark Hunter - reason: More Silence, and a unit that attacks the back.
The Battle:
Ambush and Tactics Round: Gravebrand Warlock and Barashkukor received the Affliction / Life Leech tactic from Lorkus, good choice! I choose to give Expose and Poison to Anast Soothsayer and Daigendark Hunter, two different targets to spread the poison around!
Baron Fyatt at Gold level apparently has Ambush, that sucks for me... right at the start it halved Commander Slade's attack!

Round 1: Not a lot has happened for now, poison did land on Barashkukor so that's nice...

Round 2: There goes the enemy tank!

Round 3: And there goes my tank, well on the bright side, now the halving on Commander Slade is cleansed again so he can hit hard! With Nalara dead soon, my magic won't be silenced anymore, so more attack power.

Round 4: The poison almost did it's job on Barashkukor, and Baron Fyatt will be dead soon as well, let's go!

Round 5: In any other situation, I would've chosen Arachne Weaver over Soothsayer, unable to heal because of the Affliction... and I only realized this by making this post!

Round 6: And it's a win!

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

That's it for this post, with 39 energy on my manual account and 10 more wins to grind for today's entries I still have some work to do before making my second post for today, busy Splinterlands day!
But first... a coffee! 😁

It's really hard to counter Lorkus in my opinion. Thats why I chose to buy Lorkus instead of Eternal Tofu in the past. But you did very well and I have to watch out when facing you with this strategy one day. 😁
I've been trying to save up for some of the folks with silence.
I don't think we have met lately, with enough mana it's quite easy to counter Lorkus for me, I have I think four units in death / water combined with silence.
I'm seeing Lorkus more often and remembering to take soothsayer with me will likley help in the future :)
Yeah definitely! Stupid I only realised this by making this post, I always played the weaver 😅
Well most of the times it worked anyway because the triple or double silence is strong enough on its own
yup, I gotta get me more units with silence. It's such a strong skill esp with the folks who will use the water splinter frontier summoner. Gotta save up for em. My last big spending spree did up my deck a lot, and my sps. But now it's time to focus on how to deal with magic heavy plays.
Keep building! 👌😊
