Splinterlands: Taming The Beast!

in Splinterlands2 days ago

Hey fellow Splinterlands Battlemages, it's time to make another Splinterlands blog post to take part in this weeks challenges, so welcome back to my blog!
It's a Saturday early morning at the time of writing and since I haven't submitted anything this week just yet, I'm a little behind on my normal schedule by participating in the two blogging challenges the team has every week so let's get going!

I always start my post by picking a topic, which is mostly a cool battle to talk about... it's quite easy saving them since I try to never let my battle energy get to 50 since it's a waste of possible rewards so on average I'm doing 24 battles daily, when I choose my topic I'm making a thumbnail, with it I try to stand out a little by not using the default image in the Splinterlands contest, this week I've chosen a new font for the text in it because I was using the other one for a LONG time already and it was very bold so it would take up much of the space of the cool background, blocking the view of the cool Dragon banner, let me know if you like this font or better like my older thumbnails! 🙂

Social Media Challenge

This weeks Social Media Challenge is the same as last weeks...

🔥 Share Your Most Remarkable Splinterlands Moments: Do you possess a battle of epic proportions that deserves to be seen by all? Have you crafted something extraordinary within the Splinterlands realm? Maybe you've got profound thoughts, insights, or strategies related to stats, cards, abilities, or gameplay that are waiting to be shared? We want it all, and we want it to be nothing short of AMAZING!

To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, check out the official Splinterlands post here.

When you're not making these blog posts yourself, I recommend starting with it if you have some extra time. Making a complete posts mostly takes about an hour, it's fun since I like talking about my biggest online hobby and it's good exercise since English is not my native language.

With the Hive Backed Dollars you receive for the earnings if you get up voted, you can build up your deck, maybe it's not much for every post but when you're committed to do this every week it's adds up quickly, I usually buy new cards with it and when I don't know what to do with it but the price of SPS is still low I buy more SPS since you never can have too much of it.

In fact, now I'm thinking about that think I'm going to start buying more SPS so I can buy the Conclave Arcana mini set packs when they launch... by the time it does everyone will start to buy SPS so the price around launch will definitely be higher than it is today, no financial advice and always do your own research... just saying 😉

So.. just when making this post, I've bought more SPS, it's that easy using the Swap service in Hive Keychain!

Well.. enough small talk, let's talk about a cool fight!

Sharing a battle

I guess we all have these battles where we see the other team and then think oh, that card... I don't stand a chance! Click Skip Battle and then be surprised by the VICTORY screen, wait... WHAT!?

This was such a battle!

The battle I saved to share in this post is a 37 mana Modern League battle with only the Death and Dragon splinters open so the choice wasn't that big, when it's that limited you know key cards are going to be played, like Arachne Weaver... so I knew I had to use my Filthy Scavenger to go hunting for a spider... I also could see my opponent liked magic attackers a lot so I also decided to bring a lot of Silence to the battlefield, let's build a nice team with what we have and what we know!

First look at the battlefield:

image.png

I recognized the name, Bronze4Ever... well they surely were able to rise above Bronze a long time ago so well done! I know this is an experienced player with a good deck, and damn.. there's a level 2 Rage in this team so that means A LOT of magic damage, good thing I doubled silenced the other team!

I think placing their Arachne Weaver so much to the front isn't the best choice but seeing my own team, there wasn't a safe spot for it anyway, at the back it would get targeted by my Scavenger anyway and I also have a sneak archer, I guess that's the drawback of Rage, you have to surround it with mostly low HP no attack units to receive the Weapons Training.
No really thinking about my silence when I was playing I just skipped this battle and was surprised so I replayed to see and I was pretty pleased with the team I made here, so let's break it down!

My Line-Up:

  • Archon: Sheng Xiao - reason: Cryptic used too much mana but I still wanted to have a Archon benefit, choosing between Akane and Sheng Xiao was a bit hard, since I have Venka and the Scavenger both benefiting by an Ambush shot, but this time I went for the Poison Bursts.
  • First position: Ujurak Brave - reason: Silence ability, also it's a nice tank for 6 mana.
  • Second position: Death Ranger - reason: Good anti magic meat shield for 4 mana.
  • Third position: Venka the Vile - reason: High damage with Charge and Piercing, I love this card!
  • Fourth position: Filthy Scavenger - reason: Meant to hunt and kill Arachne Weaver.
  • Fifth position: Arachne Weaver - reason: Corrupted Healing is awesome.
  • Sixth position: Daigendark Hunter - reason: More Silence!

The Battle:

Round 1: Well my double silence was a damn good choice against an all magic team, I guess that's the risk of going all out on one attack type. The Protect from Runeseer Sevaya is annoying, it will make the enemy Arachne Weaver survive three rounds..

image.png

Round 2: Two down! I don't think my tank is going to survive, and when it dies the magic damage increases, Rage still has a solid number of Health Points so hopefully the poison is going to help me, I'm still doing more damage anyway.

Round 3: O wow I guess my tank WILL survive!

image.png

Round 4: It's only Rage now, and with corrupted healing I can outlast this for another three rounds so it's looking good!

Round 5: The Beast is close to Death! FINISH HIM!!

Round 6: Daigendark Hunter made the final blow, winning me the battle.

You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.

This was early in the season still in Gold 3, so the SPS rewards were still pretty low but I'll take it - I love to see that number going up every week! 😍
