Hello everyone, how is your Splinterlands matches been going? I'm here again to share another Frontier Ranked battle with you all. This time I got 25 Mana and I decided to use Fire element. I love to use my favourite Fire element and I wanted to see how my team would perform in this match. As, I have been playing with death element only.
I acknowledged a new ruleset which is called Briar Patch, it means all units have Thorns and when they get hit by a melee attack, they return 2 damage to the attacker. So I needed to stay cautious while choosing my team.
Match details

Mana: 25
Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon
Ruleset: Briar Patch
Briar Patch: All units have Thorns (returns 2 damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack).
My Team
With 25 Mana available, I decided to go with my Fire team again. I didn't have a lot of Mana so I didn't try to make a big lineup. I just wanted to use a few cards which I thought could work well together.
For the summoner, I chose Barthalamas. I have been using Barthalamas quite often because I really like the speed boost he gives to my team. In these lower Mana matches, getting attacks faster can sometimes make a big difference.
Here was my lineup:

Summoner
Barthalamas
1st Position – Frankarsgard
2nd Position – Lunaki Howler
3rd Position – Ash Archer
I placed Frankarsgard in the first position because I wanted him to take the attacks from the enemy team. Since there was Briar Patch, I also knew that melee attacks could cause extra damage, so I wanted my frontline to be strong enough to stay there for some time.
Behind Frankarsgard, I placed Lunaki Howler. I wanted to keep Howler protected while he could continue helping my team during the battle.
In the last position, I placed Ash Archer. I wanted to have another attacker from the back and I thought this small lineup could work well with the Mana I had.
How the Battle Went

My enemy was TU2BEE and they were using the Earth element with Aurelia as summoner.
Honestly, their team was good and this match was not going to be an easy win. Earth teams can be strong because they have healing power and my enemy also had some good cards in their team.
The battle started and both teams started attacking each other. My main focus was to keep Frankarsgard alive because if he could survive for a good amount of time, my other cards would get enough time to do their work.

Barthalamas was also helping my team with the extra speed, and I was happy to see my team getting their attacks in.
As the battle continued, both teams were slowly losing their cards. Briar Patch ruleset was making the match feel more exclusive because the melee attacks were giving Thorns damages.

I was not nervous but at the beginning because my enemy had a decent lineup but after a few rounds I could see my team had better advantages.
Frankarsgard was doing his job at the front while Lunaki Howler and Ash Archer kept attacking. Slowly the enemy team started getting weaker.

The battle continued for 5 rounds and finally my team managed to finish the battle with a victory.

Seeing the VICTORY screen always feels good, especially when the opponent has a strong looking lineup.

After the victory, I received +40 rating, which took me to 1400 rating in Silver II. I also had 60 Energy remaining after the battle.
Rewards

After the battle, I spun the wheel to see my luck on Lux's Favor.
It was not much I received only +50 Sparks and +5 Bonus Sparks, in total it's 55 Sparks.
Still something is better than nothing as people always say. At least I can use these Sparks in the Spark Shop. It may not be a huge reward but I am glad for getting some extra things after a match.
Looking Ahead
This was another enjoyable Frontier Ranked battle for me. With only 25 Mana and the Briar Patch ruleset, I had to think a little about which cards I should use.
My Fire team of Barthalamas, Frankarsgard, Lunaki Howler and Ash Archer worked nicely together. I kept the lineup small but each card had their own job to do.
At last the match finished in 5 rounds and I finally had +40 rating, and now my ratings are 1400 rating in Silver II.
I'm going to keep trying my luck on this game and I want to keep pushing my rating more. I still have a lot of battles to play and will see how much far can I go in this season.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my battle report.
What do you think about using a small lineup in a 25 Mana battle? Do you prefer using fewer strong cards or filling more positions when you have enough Mana? And what do you think about using Fire with the Briar Patch ruleset? Let me know in the comments below.
