Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.

Today I wanted to do another card spotlight, and this time the card is a promotional event card named, Grayhammer Painsmith. This is a Common Death/Earth unit from the new set and honestly, it is one of the most unique common cards I have seen recently.

At max level (Level 10), Grayhammer Painsmith gets five different abilities, which is pretty crazy for a common card. It starts looking like a normal ranged attacker, but once you read all the abilities, you realize there is much more going on here.

Before talking about the abilities, let's take a quick look at the card.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐱 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥

  • Mana Cost: 8

  • Ranged Attack: 2

  • Speed: 3

  • Health: 13

The first thing that stands out to me is the huge health pool. For a ranged unit, 13 health is quite impressive. Most ranged cards are usually fragile, but this one can survive for a long time.

The speed is not amazing, but it is decent enough. The real value comes from the abilities.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟏: 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞

Close Range: Can use ranged attacks from the first position.

This is always a useful ability for ranged monsters.

Normally when a ranged unit gets pushed into the front line, it becomes almost useless. With Close Range, Grayhammer Painsmith can continue attacking even after reaching the first position.

This makes the card much harder to shut down.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟐: 𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞

Painforge: +1 power when damaged by Poisoned or Burning or hit by an ally.

Now this is where things get interesting.

Most monsters hate taking damage. Grayhammer Painsmith actually benefits from it.

If the card gets damaged by Burning, Poison, or certain friendly effects, it gains additional power.

In battles with status effects everywhere, this ability can snowball pretty quickly. Suddenly a monster that started with only 2 ranged attack can become much more dangerous.

I really like abilities that reward unusual strategies and Painforge definitely does that.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟑: 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐭

Rust: -2 armor to all enemy units.

This is one of my favorite support abilities.

A lot of players rely heavily on armor. Rust instantly removes 2 armor from every enemy monster, making them easier to kill.

It may not look flashy, but it provides value from the very first round.

Especially against Life teams or armored tanks, Rust can make a huge difference.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟒: 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬

Shadow Focus: When in the last position, gains Camouflage, cannot attack, and all allied units gain +1 Power.

This ability is probably the most unique part of the card.

When Grayhammer Painsmith sits in the last position, it basically turns into a support unit.

It loses the ability to attack, but every ally gains +1 power.

That is a massive team-wide buff.

The Camouflage effect also protects it from direct attacks, making it harder for opponents to remove the bonus.

Honestly, this ability alone can completely change how you position the card.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟓: 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥

Heal: Each round, restores 1/3 of max health.

And finally we get Heal.

With 13 health, healing one-third every round is pretty strong.

This helps Grayhammer Painsmith stay alive longer and continue supporting the team.

Combined with its already large health pool, it can become surprisingly annoying to eliminate.

What I like most about Grayhammer Painsmith is how flexible it feels.

You can use it as:

  • A ranged attacker thanks to Close Range.

  • An anti-armor support monster because of Rust.

  • A team buffer through Shadow Focus.

  • A scaling damage dealer using Painforge.

  • A durable support card because of Heal.

That is a lot of utility packed into a common card.

Personally, I think Shadow Focus is the most interesting ability. Giving every ally +1 power can completely change the outcome of a battle, especially in longer matches.

The card is not the fastest and does not start with huge damage, but its value comes from everything it brings to the team rather than raw stats.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍

Grayhammer Painsmith is one of those cards that gets better the more you understand it. At first glance it looks like a simple ranged monster, but after looking at all five abilities, it becomes clear that it can fill several different roles.

For a common card, the amount of utility is honestly impressive.

I think this card has a lot of potential in both Death and Earth lineups, especially in battles where armor, status effects, and long fights are common.

Anyway thats it for today’s #splinterlands grind. More battles tomorrow and hopefully more crazy moments too. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)

I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.

Besides the outstanding abilities, the dual element is another feature I like. The Earth and Death feature, makes it more flexible for use.
