Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.

Today I wanted to do something different instead of talking about ranked grind or chest rewards. So this post is gonna be a little card spotlight about one of my favorite Water units recently.

The card is called Giant Alpine Skink and honestly this card surprised me a lot after I started using it more in battles.

At first I didnt think too much about it because it is just a common Water unit, but after seeing it perform in Diamond league battles, I started respecting this card alot more.

And the crazy thing is that at Level 10 (max level), this unit gets 3 really annoying abilities.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐬

  • Element: Water

  • Rarity: Common

  • Mana Cost: 8

  • Attack Type: Melee

  • Max Level: 10

What makes this card strong is not just raw stats, but the combination of abilities it gets.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟏: 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝

Shield: 50% less damage from physical attacks or 0 damage from physical attacks of 1 power.

This ability is honestly soooo useful against melee and ranged teams.

There are many battles where enemy units hit really hard physically, but Shield cuts the damage and helps the Skink survive much longer than expected.

Sometimes opponents think they are doing huge damage, but then the Shield just casually blocks most of it.

And if the enemy only has 1 power physical attacks, it can literally reduce it to 0 damage which is kinda funny to watch.

This ability alone already makes the card solid as a frontline or secondary tank.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟐: 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞

Phase: Magic attacks have the same chance to miss as physical attacks.

Now THIS ability is where things become annoying for the opponent.

Usually magic attacks always hit in #Splinterlands, which makes magic teams dangerous. But with Phase, magic attacks can actually miss.

And when enemy magic attacks start missing at important moments, it completely changes the battle.

I had battles where opponents relied heavily on magic damage but Giant Alpine Skink just dodged attacks and survived somehow.

When combined with decent speed, this ability becomes very dangerous.

It feels super satisfying watching enemy magic attacks fail.

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝟑: 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐧

Stun: 50% chance to apply Stunned for one round after a successful attack. Stunned units skip their turn.

This is probably my favorite ability on this card.

Stun can completely destroy enemy momentum if it lands at the correct time. A stunned enemy basically loses their turn and that can decide the whole battle.

I recently had a battle where Giant Alpine Skink kept stunning enemy units again and again and honestly my opponent probably got mad.

The best part is when the stun lands on an important enemy carry unit. Suddenly their strongest attacker cant even move.

That one missed turn can literally win the match.

This ability becomes extra scary in longer battles because the Skink gets multiple chances to apply stun.

What I really like about Giant Alpine Skink is that it feels very balanced.

It has:

Good survivability because of Shield
Anti-magic potential because of Phase
Utility and control because of Stun

That is honestly a really strong combo for a common card.

I think many players underestimate common cards because they chase legendary cards only. But some common units are actually insanely useful if used correctly.

And Giant Alpine Skink is definitely one of those cards in my opinion.

Especially in Diamond league, utility abilities matter soooo much more.

Raw damage alone is not always enough.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍

Overall, I think Giant Alpine Skink is one of the coolest Water units I used recently. The combination of Shield, Phase and Stun makes it very annoying to deal with and also really fun to use.

For a common card, it honestly feels super valuable at max level.

I will definitely keep using this card more in ranked battles because it already saved me in some difficult matches.

Maybe next time I’ll make another spotlight post about another underrated unit because there are honestly many hidden gems in #Splinterlands.

Anyway thats it for today’s #splinterlands grind. More battles tomorrow and hopefully more crazy moments too. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)

I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
