I have not become a guild member yet, does it take a lot of time and would you say it is worth it. (I did get a few invites, that I did not take up)

You should take the invite or request to join one, it doesn't take time am even hardly ever in the chat rooms, I just participate in the Brawls and get rewarded with merits which I use in buying Gladius packs to fight in Brawls, so its fun and worth it as well.
