Oh my Lord where do I begin.
So many entendres for my title therein.
Here are all the dark sides to my journey
First, if you caught my last blog post, you'd know that I hate Mylor.... Well, I caved and rented her... Only to wrecked repeatedly. That was my first dark side journey and boy oh boy did I learn how bad I am at this game. I never paid attention to ranged monsters. I guess it was DEC well spent if that means I can beat her in the future. The lesson here really is watch your own games cause that would have saved me rent DEC.
Second, FOMO. I got so much fomo from watching these prices I hastily tried to buy dice packs using ether with the intention to use alchemy potions when opening them and lost SO much in gas prices. Nearly 30%. Ridiculous. Thank God for hive. The lesson here really is patience. Should've done my researched and not let the existential dread, I mean FOMO, sink in.
Third, real life impacts your brain and thus your gameplay. I got extremely frustrated over the last 24 hours IRL and it severely impacted my gameplay. This is where the multiple accounts come in. My frustration carried over to one account that I rented enough cards on to carry me in to silver but got so frustrated at 2 losses which dropped me into bronze I decided to keep going until I regained silver before completing my quest (to get the 2 chests instead of 1). I decided losing DEC win rate was worth it. And it could have been had it not been that my frustration now was with me in the arena and I lost another 8 in a row and was further away from silver with even lower DEC rates. It wasn't worth it. I never ended up getting the 2 chests.
Meanwhile, my second account was less pressure for me as I didn't rent, didn't intend to break into silver and was comfortably on a roll somehow (even though it's the same rank, don't ask me how). Won the quest in 6 games. Apparently I'm able to dissociate my frustration based on each account's accompanying pressure. This definitely demonstrates mindset being absolutely vital. That and remembering to enjoy yourself rather than letting this become a chore.
Also apparently I have a dissociative disorder so that's a fourth dark side for y'all. Yay!
The lesson here was to remember that you play the game for fun, first and foremost.
Tl;dr. Don't cave to pressure. From within or without. Watch your games. And remember to have fun.
I'll blog about the financial logic of 2 accounts soon. Bottom line is that it's absolutely worth it. Especially if you really enjoy the game.
A second account to play splinterlands - $10.
Twice the opportunity to be a Mylor in someone's backside - priceless.
Hit me with that upvote if you want to hear more.
Hey,
Just a little tip from me:
Find something you can do besides playing Splinterlands. Nothing that requires the active, like another game but something that you can leave quiet 10 minutes.
I for example like to write articles for Splintertalks or draw/paint. Because if things aren't going well, you can easily distract yourself and get back into Splinterlands a few minutes later with calmed thoughts. Besides, it's a better way to use the waiting time and have something to do.
Greetings
Thanks for the suggestion yo! Splintertalk actually is an amazing way to spend time I agree.
