Today I would like to talk about importance of paying close attention to the rulesets that are in effect in Splinterlands battles. I would like to illustrate the importance of this point by showing my brawl battle from today.

Introduction
As you may know I have two accounts in Splinterlands and both battle in tier five brawls. My other account is investor777 and it is in a very competitive guild called Plan B. As you can see below we are currently leading in the tier five brawl:

And this is not a fluke, if you look at our last five brawls, we have won the last three tier five brawls and got a second place in the other two brawls:

I play in Gold tier Wild fray and usually I have very tough opponents with fully maxed out deck and pretty much all cards available to my opponent, so it is surprising when I get an easy win against any opponent in the tier five brawl.
Today I will show you how my opponent didn't pay attention to the rulesets that are in effect and lost despite using a very strong summoner Yodin Zaku.
The Ruleset
We have a triple ruleset in effect in this battle:

First thing you would notice is that we have Going the Distance ruleset in effect. This means that you can only use cards that have a ranged attack. This doesn't mean that your cards can have only ranged attack, they can have magic and melee attack, but they must also have the ranged attack.
The second most important ruleset is Reverse Speed. This means that the slowest monsters attack first. I know that Earth splinter has really good slow monsters.
And third we have Aimless ruleset in effect, that basically means that our magic and ranged attack monsters will shoot at random targets. This ruleset is hard to play other than know that it is good to use monsters with poison and with splash damage as they are likely to hit more cards and poison multiple cards.
Also of note is is that we have Fire, Water, Earth and Dragon splinters that are available to us and we have fifty two mana available to us so we can play some big mana monsters.
My Strategy
My strategy for this battle is to use Earth Splinter. In case my opponent uses magic attack monsters I have chosen Immortalis as my summoner as he gives void ability to all monsters that protects against magic damage and it also reduces all enemy monster health by one health point. It also has shutter ability which is useful to shatter armor on my opponents.
Keeping in mind that we have a Reverse Speed ruleset in effect I have selected a number of slow monsters, my main damage dealer is Goblin Tower which has a speed of one, four ranged damage and splash damage thanks to the Blast ability.
My second damage dealer is Runemancer Florre. This big damage monsters strikes for three ranged and three magic damage at every turn. She also comes with a massive thirteen base health points.
Drybone raider is important card here as it has double strike ability so it can strike with two ranged damage twice and once it gets into the first position it can strike twice with the melee attack of two. This is a fairly fragile monster with only eight health so I like to place it in the second position.
In the first position I placed Quilliun Legionary this card is a ranged attack card that can attack from the first position as well as having very good health points of ten, two shield and it can return thorns damage against melee attackers.
I also played a card in my backline that can poison my opponents as with random targets it can spread the poison all over the place.
And last but not least I played a martyr card Venari Marksrat that could be hit randomly and if it dies it boosts two very powerful cards that surround it.
The Battle
To illustrate the importance of paying attention to all of the rulesets above link is to the brawl battle today against Luffy Land 1893 from the guild of Legendary Wyverns:

Looking at this lineup, I cannot help but think that Luffy missed the Reverse Speed ruleset because he has two speed boosting monsters: Supply Runner and Countess Sinash. And Spark Pixies with a base speed of six is definitely not the best choice for the ruleset where slow monsters strike first!
Luffy did use a very strong and formerly super meta summoner Yodin Zaku. The extra ranged damage, blast are really strong boosts and extra health of one will basically mitigate my Immortalis. Let's see how this battle will play out...

My whole team took turns before the opponent took a single shot. We did take out their Countess Sinash before she could even strike once. We also really weakened a lot of their other monsters... So let's see how round two goes...

In round two their Drybone Raider self eliminated by hitting our tank and then our monsters took turns to eliminate their only remaining monster.
And so we win this battle against a solid team led by the Yodin Zaku without loosing a single monster! This is what happens when you miss just one ruleset out of the three that apply to this battle!

Putting the eye in the last position didn't make much sense, it's great because it can heal and has a ton of hp making him a good tank
That too...
I've gotten nipped by not paying attention to the rules a few times myself.
I don't know much about the game, I'm still learning, but so many rules, so many conditions, plus those super strong cards have left me amazed.
It is a fun game.
