We have three rulesets in effect: Corrosive Fog, Fire and Regret and Lost Magic:
RULESET: Lost Magic
Description:
Magic units may not be used in battle.
Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks.
Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks.
Units with 2 types of attack (which include magic) cannot be used.
The Strategy
The strategy here is to outlast our opponent by putting a huge taunt monster in the last position and by putting Arkemis the Bear in the first position. In case they go with the five damage reward card Coastal Sentry I didn't use Deep Lurker with his demoralize ability that way when the Coastal Sentry hits it hits the Force shield on my bear with one melee damage instead of five twice per turn.
I am also placing a huge health tank with self heal in the second position and giving it melee damage using weapons training from Kulu Mastermind and I am placing a huge health taunt tank in the very back to draw some fire there from the front of my lineup and weaker monsters.
I also used a healer and armor repair support unit Merdaali Guardian in the fourth position and gave her melee attack from Kulu Mastermind.
The Summoner
Quix is a legendary summoner from the Chaos Legion set. A great summoner for high mana battles particularly where Magic monsters are not available.
1st Slot - Tank Monster
Arkemis the Bear is a common rarity Chaos Legion Promo card. This card is great for lost magic ruleset because it is really strong against monsters that do not have magic attack. It also has high health of twelve and a force shield in addition to providing shield to all friendly monsters.
2nd Slot - Secondary Tank Monster
Baakjira is a great legendary monster from the Chaos Legion set. I like giving it melee attack using weapons training from Kulu Mastermind.
3rd Slot - Weapons Training Monster
Kulu Mastermind is a great legendary soul-bound reward card. It provides melee attack to the monsters that surround it using it's weapons training ability. It has great stats and other abilities as well.
4th Slot - Support Monster
Merdaali Guardian is a great support monster that heals the tank and does armor repair in addition to providing all friendly monsters one extra health. Using Kulu Mastermind we make it even better by giving it melee attack.
5th Slot - Sneak Monster
Pelacor Bandit is a fast sneak monster that has four melee damage. It is a great monster to use in the lost magic ruleset.
6th Slot - Taunt Monster
Coeurl Lurker is a great taunt tank, here I am using it to spread damage away from the main tank and other weaker monsters in case my opponent uses opportunity monsters.
THE BATTLE
Our opponent went with the same summoner and the same main tank, but otherwise it is a very different lineup. Let's see how that will workout...
First round was fairly un-eventful, this looks like it will be a long battle...
After a long time grinding down on my opponent there was some action in round three where we lost our taunt tank and they lost their backline protection:
In round four we definitely saw a clear shift in our favor as they lost their supply runner and their front tank:
But it took us until round seven to finally win this battle:
