My Favorite Conclave Arcana Card

in Splinterlands11 hours ago

There is something oddly satisfying about logging into Splinterlands, scanning through your lineup, and spotting that one card that always makes you grin. For me, that card is Yaba’s Pickle - my one and only black foil card, and a surprisingly potent promo monster that punches far above its weight.

It is not just the stats or the aesthetics, it is the whole package - the story, the synergy, the little quirks that make this card such a “spicy addition” to the battlefield.

And every time I play it, I am reminded that Splinterlands is not just about brute force. It’s about finding that perfect balance between power, personality, and a touch of chaos.

A Card That is One of a Kind for Me

Let’s start with something simple: Yaba’s Pickle gives that sweet ranked bonus. Being a promo card, it earns more Glint and SPS per win. Every bonus counts.

But beyond the economics, this card just feels special. The black foil makes it visually distinct - a rare status symbol on the battlefield. It’s my only one, which makes it even more personal. When I see that black foil in my lineup, it’s like a small reminder of how far I’ve come as a player. As you can see my Yaba's Pickle is number 107 out of a total 131 black foils in circulation!

Defensive Brilliance: A Tank You Can Trust

What truly sets Yaba’s Pickle apart isn’t just that it’s rare - it’s that it’s reliably tough.

The combination of Shield, Dodge, and Heal makes this little guy an absolute nuisance for opponents.

  • Shield slashes incoming melee and ranged damage, allowing it to shrug off direct hits.
  • Dodge introduces an unpredictability factor.
  • And then there is Heal, which ensures that even when the enemy starts making progress, Yaba’s Pickle self heals.

These three defensive abilities gives this card a battlefield longevity. It is like watching a cucumber turn into a fortress.

Disruption and Support

Yaba’s Pickle is not just about surviving, it is about controlling the tempo.

Slow ability is a game-changer. By reducing enemy speed across the board, it lets your entire team strike earlier, hit harder, and land strikes before the opposition even knows what’s coming. Slow is one of those underappreciated mechanics in Splinterlands. It doesn’t look flashy, but it quietly tilts the odds in your favor.

And when paired with Weapons Training, things get even more interesting. Suddenly, this tank isn’t just soaking damage it is also contributing offensive pressure.

The synergy here is great. It turns what looks like a silly pickle-themed card into a really useful card. It is slowing enemies, absorbing punishment, and dealing consistent retaliation.

Why It Is My Favorite

When you combine everything:

  • the defensive versatility
  • the tempo control
  • the promo black foil bonus

You get a card that is not just powerful, but meaningful. Yaba’s Pickle reminds me why I fell in love with Splinterlands in the first place. It captures the spirit of strategy, creativity, and fun.

In a game full of dragons, demons, and warriors, sometimes it’s the pickle that steals the show.

The Battle

Here is one of my latest battles featuring Yaba's Pickle: Link to the battle

In the current Modern league I do not have many weapons training monsters, but still I found it useful to play Yaba's Pickle. Let's see how it does.

In the first round I was able to take out their taunt monster. Let's see how it will go in the second round.

In the second round I was able to dispose of a couple more of my opponent's monsters. The opposing team keeps missing shots against my tank monster, I think that is in a large part due to the fact that Yaba's Pickle is slowing them down.

And in the third round it is all over and my team wins without loosing any of the cards on the battlefield!

And here are the ranked bonuses:

As you can see Yaba's Pickle brought me a 20% Black Card bonus and a 10% Promo Card bonus, those bonuses really add up, especially at a higher rankings.
