I realized that I have not reviewed my last Splinterlands season and this was an interesting season where we had new reward cards for the first time and the launch of Fortune Draws. Due to Fortune Draws, I rented some SPS so that I can get sixty Fortune Draw tickets per day instead of 48 Fortune Draws I am limited to due to my SPS stake of 592,686 SPS:

As you know you need half a million SPS to get sixteen tickets per entry and you need a million SPS to get twenty tickets per entry. I could have gone for the next two tiers of two and a half million or five million SPS as I was playing good part of the season in Champion, but it seemed too risky to spend DEC on that kind of SPS rental.
SPS is holding up surprisingly well compared to Hive in the recent downturn:

As you can see in the last three months SPS is down only two percent and Hive is down over fifty percent! That is quite an outperformance from the SPS token!
What could this difference be attributed to? I could make an argument that SPS holders are less interested in parting with their Splintershards than Hive authors, DHF recipients and Hive Witnesses in general, but I think there is more to it.
I believe we have a couple factors holding up the price of SPS in addition to stronger hands of SPS holders:
- People are holding and buying SPS to get a discount on the upcoming mini set
- People are holding and acquiring SPS to have a better luck in the new Fortune Draws

Season Summary
So when it comes to the last Splinterlands season I have the following chart below and it shows my overall SPS earnings. As you can see there is only a tiny uptick in SPS earnings last season compared to the last season.

I would have expected there to be more of an uptick as I had a better multiplier in Wild League due to the extra SPS, but it appears that extra SPS did not result in better Wild Earnings based on the chart below. This chart shows my overall SPS earnings since the launch of SPS validators.

Next chart shows my Glint token earnings since the start of the Glint shop:

I had a very slight uptick in those last season as well which I would attribute to a better multiplier in Wild, still the effect is quite muted.
Perhaps the answer is partially due to my win rate being a bit worse than last season as you can see my end rating and my end league were lower than the season before:

Finally let's take a look at my SPS Ranked and SPS Brawl earnings. The red chart shows my Wild Ranked SPS earnings and they had a tiny uptick compared to the season before.
You can see a larger uptick in my Brawl earnings though they are in no way related to staked SPS:

This means that we need to look further at why my Wild SPS earnings stayed practically flat.

Last Season results
| Statistic | Wild |
|---|---|
| Battles | 483 |
| Rank | 305 |
| Rating | 3960 - CHAMPION_III |
| Rating High | 3960 |
| Win PCT (Wins/battles * 100) | 50.31 (243/483) |
| Longest Streak | 10 |
Here we see that I have achieved slightly better than fifty percent win rate in Wild League. For comparison purposes here are my stats from the last season:

What is interesting here is that I had more battles in Wild league the season before last season as in seven battles more, my win rate was also higher and I had eight wins more in Wild League compared to the number of wins last season. I also had fourteen wins in Modern League the season before, which also positively contributed to the total SPS.
I believe last season I didn't buy any extra energy, so my number of battles was lower and the slight increase in earned SPS because of higher SPS does make up for the smaller number of wins in Wild, but doesn't make my SPS earning much higher.

Earnings and costs
| Earnings | # |
|---|---|
| DEC market sell | |
| SPS validator block validation | 5689.936 |
| SPS ranked battle (wild) | 1481.919 |
| SPS staking reward | 1352.792 |
| SPS brawl | 444.958 |
| SPS validator reward | 368.098 |
| MERITS brawl prizes | |
| GLINT ranked | |
| GLINT season |
As you can see my top source of SPS earnings remains my SPS validator rewards followed by Wild Ranked battles and my staking rewards.
You notice I got over three thousand DEC tokens this season. That is my first time selling cards on the market. I decided that I would not be able to max out my gold foil cards with the new reward card rate drops for the gold foils, so I put some of my gold foil new reward cards on the market and got some DEC for SPS rentals.
Costs
| Costs | # |
|---|---|
| DEC market fees | |
| DEC market list fee | |
| GLINT rewards draws |
Because I sold some gold foil reward cards on the market I paid these DEC fees.

This time around I decided to purchase some Common reward draws to see if I can level up my common reward cards. That didn't help to bring them to playable level, but if I do that for several season then combined with the cards I get from the first tranche of chests I think they can become quite playable in the near future.
I didn't buy all the Ultimate chests in the first tranche as they are very expensive. That is a change in my strategy since last season.
Special items earned

I didn't earn anything really special, but I did get a good number of energy in my chests.

As you can see from my reward cards earned the drop rate of gold foil cards have been greatly reduced. Since I wasn't able to max out any of my old gold foil reward cards, under new rules there is no chance I will max them out, so for the first time ever I sold five gold foil reward cards on the market.

I didn't make it into Champion Two last season so my chests were very limited.

With such a small number of chests it is no surprise that I didn't get any land plots or pack from them.

Closing notes
Overall a pretty good season with some adjustments, but it doesn't look like I need to make any major adjustments to my Splinterlands strategy.
