You freed the fallen elani Kraan from Commander Slade's corruption, and with a bit of help from a squirrel, liberated the Republic of Fireboro's capital. You remember when all you wanted was glory in the arena. The rebellion could be damned. But now you've found a cause, and you realize it's worth fighting for.
The Story
Lagfael is no more. Now, Barashkukor and his legions of Chaos rule the Belurocian Empire, while the greater demon Avarisdeus enforces his master's malevolent sovereignty over the Dark Eternals. Demise Archon Faust was forced into exile, but many of the revenants still see him as their rightful ruler. He is in exile within Fenmoor's Bog of Wails. Find him, restore him to his throne, and light the spark of rebellion.
Following Commander Slade's defeat, Risqruel Drath, Kraan, and you help Chancellor Townsend and his people bring a semblance of order to Fireboro. But no sooner have you begun than a trio of cats begin twining about your legs. You stoop to give them a pat on the head. Then one speaks.
He tells you of the Chaos Empire's conquest of the Belurocian Empire, with the archfiend Barashkukor on the throne in New Beluroc and the greater demon Avarisdeus lording over the Dark Eternal city of Ahna-Chei.
But as you might have guessed, all is not sunshine and rainbows in this empire of demons and revenants.
The Demons
The archfiend Barashkukor comes from an infernal realm that was subsumed and obliterated by the dark god Uul during the insidious conquests of the legions of Chaos. His formidable power quickly earned the respect and favor of Silus of the Rift, and Barashkukor was soon made a high legionnaire and charged with command of a legion of demons ten-thousand strong.
After the conquest of the Belurocian Empire, Barashkukor laid claim to its throne. He governs with meticulous cruelty and a reign of terror that makes even the Chaos Empire's most despotic of despots seem egalitarian by comparison.
In spite of this, acts of subversion are escalating in both frequency and severity, especially among the Dark Eternals; the threat of death isn't the best deterrent for a splinter who wants nothing better than to usher in the Dark Eternity and the end of all life in the Splinterlands.
The greater demon Avarisdeus hails from the same infernal realm as his master, the archfiend Barashkukor, and his legion of demons. After the Chaos Empire's conquest of the Splinterlands and the fall of the Belurocian Empire, he was charged with enforcing his master's malevolent sovereignty over the Dark Eternal city of Ahna-Chei.
Avarisdeus true loyalties, however, are to himself, and he uses his influence to further his schemes as his unassuming treachery quietly trickles through the revenant city.
Between Avarisdeus's scheming and the unrest among the Dark Eternals, your feline friend believes a spark will be enough to ignite rebellion within the Belurocian Empire. And you'll find that spark in the Bog of Wails.
The Spark
The Dark Eternals originally hail from the continent of Mortis. The Demise Archon Faust led those who came to Praetoria to spread the word of the Dark Codex. Under his guidance, the collective flourished, accumulating vast sums of wealth in both coins and revenant souls. However, when the Chaos Empire conquered the Belurocian Empire, the Dark Eternals bended the knee as well.
Faust was forced into exile. Now, he has taken shelter somewhere in Fenmoor Basin's Bog of Wails, hidden from the empire's legions by Chuul Jujinchi and a contingent of provincial forces from the Riftwatchers' Southeastern Vergar Command.
An alagar tortisian of few words, Chuul is nevertheless a respected leader and formidable runemancer who wields earth and life magic with devastating effect. He is motivated by his contempt for the legions of Chaos, whose machinations have defiled his swampland home and driven him from the life of solitude he'd enjoyed.
Faust, Chuul, and their allies bide their time as the seeds of rebellion take root and the moment comes to rally the revenants of Ahna-Chei, retake the city, and restore Faust to his rightful place as ruler of the Dark Eternals.
That moment is now. The cat implore you to make your way under the Daigenloft Mountains, through the Deep, to the Bog of Wails. Help them find the exiled Demise Archon Faust, retake Ahna-Chei, and free the Dark Eternals from the shackles of oppression.
With its liberation, the spark of rebellion will ignite across the Belurocian Empire and consume Barashkukor and his legions of Chaos.
At least, that's the cat's plan.
That cat, of course, is your next legendary summoner.
Eternal Tofu
Faust is many things. As Demise Archon, he is the leader of the Dark Eternals. He is a chamen, a human of an infernal bloodline. He is a revenant and one of the undead. He is a follower of the Dark Codex and seeks to bring about the end of all suffering—and the end of all life, as well.
He is also a great lover of cats.
His most faithful feline is Tofu, an awakened tabby of supreme intelligence. So beloved is he that Faust gifted the cat with undeath but preserved his soul in a box so that he may live eternal alongside his master.
Tofu is always accompanied by his companions: Miso, a grey cat whose loyalty to her friends is surpassed only by her affection for food, and a tiny white kitten named Nori.
When Ahna-Chei fell to the demons of the Chaos Empire, Faust fled into the Bog of Wails. No fan of swamps, his felines scattered to drier pastures. Tofu, Miso, and Nori made their way to the Republic of Fireboro, where they've hatched a plan to restore their master as the rightful ruler of the Dark Eternals.
Eternal Tofu is the Rebellion set's Earth/Life legendary Tactics summoner. With his team-wide Snare, Thorns, and +2 Health, He's a perfect counter to your opponent's fliers and melee attackers, and he beefs up your team's survivability significantly.
Mmm. And his Tactics.
On one side, you can give Divine Shield and Corrosive Ward to three units, allowing you to soak up the damage while negating your opponent's armor, giving you ample time to turn the tide in your favor.
On the other side, you can give Triage and Scavenger to one unit. Personally, this is one of my favorite combos. Put it on any tanky unit: Grimbardun Smith, Rage, Mantaroth, you name it. They keep your back row topped off or gain health with each death. Enough scavenges, and there's no stopping them!
Whichever Tactic you choose, with Eternal Tofu, it's gonna be a whole new meta! Get your Rebellion cards and stake them in Conflicts so you can get in on the action.
By the Numbers
Like the previous Conflicts, 4,000 copies of Eternal Tofu will be airdropped to participating players based on their total Reward Chances when the Conflict ends. But this go-round, it will take 375 Reward Chances to guarantee a copy of the card.
