Survival Mode & Leaderboard Rewards Update

At the beginning of the next ranked play season starting this Thursday, February 27th, you'll find two major updates to Splinterlands: an entirely new game mode and upgraded league-based leaderboard rewards. Read on to learn all about em!

In addition to Modern and Wild, the Arena Games will feature a brand-spankin-new format of ranked play: Survival mode, complete with its own leaderboard and rewards for top contenders. In it, you can use any card from any set, as well as battle helpers and bots, just like in Wild. The difference? In Survival mode, battles don't consume energy. Instead, when your cards are defeated, they can't be used anywhere until their cooldown is over. And when I say anywhere, I mean anywhere: brawls, land, tournaments, other modes of ranked play—you name it. It's one-and-done, baby.

After the update, check out the Battle Lobby's Academy Panel for all the juicy details, including cooldown times by card foil and rarity. Survival mode definitely ain't for the faint of heart, but if you got the chops (and the cards!), the risk will be well worth the rewards.

You asked for league-based leaderboards. And we heard you, so that's what we're giving you... and then some! All leagues above Wood will now have their own leaderboards, and we're expanding rewards to the top 100 contenders. What?! Yep. That ain't no typo. When a season ends, the top 100 players in every league above Wood will walk away with a fat bag of Glint. Cha-ching!

The leaderboard for which you'll be competing will be determined based on your rating at the start of each season, after the end of season reset is applied. You'll compete for that leaderboard for that entire season even if your rating falls above or below the normal range for that league during the season.

For example: a new season begins, and your rating resets to somewhere in Silver league. You compete for the Silver league leaderboard for the entire season. You scratch and claw your way to a rating of 3100, and rank at the very top of the leaderboard. You claim a honkin' pile of Glint. Bards spin tales of your triumphs. Throngs of beautiful women and chisel-chested men lust after you. When you look up "legend" in the dictionary, there's just a picture of you.

The following season, your rating resets to 2600 and you're placed in Gold league, where you compete for even more Glint, wilder tales, rowdier fans, and additional edits to the dictionary.

With great power comes great rewards. Glint for each rank on the league leaderboards—check it out:

I can't wait to see how awesome it will be to use my low level cards after a long time.

You claim a honkin' pile of Glint. Bards spin tales of your triumphs. Throngs of beautiful women and chisel-chested men lust after you. When you look up "legend" in the dictionary, there's just a picture of you.

I hope this is real or I'll be really sad :(

Prepare for disappointment 😅

So practically you won't be able to compete for the same leaderboard 2 seasons in a row? (except champion)
I'm guessing the rating inflation will push the top contenders of the leaderboard way up to the next league just to find themselves in higher tier after the reset, thus competing from the higher leaderboard...
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I like the change to the leaderboard. Less dec inflation is good news!

Ranking battles are open to all players to strive outperform on the battlefield.

I wanna try Survival Mode when it comes out, but I'm also scared to lose cause I know I'll be losing my cards for a while. Maybe I'll wait till the end of the season when I've made it as far as I'm gonna make it Modern to give it a go. Overall these are good changes and hopefully, they help get DEC back to being $1=1,000 DEC.

Hmm. Lots of new updates...

okay this is going to be really fun!! I love it!

This is awesome news! Survival Mode sounds super cool! And more rewards and leaderboards are always a good thing. It's really helpful that you explained how everything works, especially about starting ratings. This update sounds like it will make the game even better! Thanks for sharing!

I'm excited about this update. Hopefully there will be a lot of new players coming in. With this update there is no need to climb the Champion to get to the Top LEADERBOARD. Great Job team Splinterlands!

This Survival game is FUN!!!!!!!!!

t carries its risk, but it makes it interesting.. good luck to everyone

so you stopped giving actual rewards that can be exchanged for money and give glints. i m not that good to be in the top players but i believe this is a huge "frack off" to your big players.
they were earning money. now they will earn glints that may be used to win cards that are not exchangeable except of paying more to unbound them.
nice

The new Survival mode in Splinterlands adds an exciting twist to gameplay by removing energy consumption and introducing cooldown periods for defeated cards. This mechanic forces players to think strategically about card usage. Survival mode, like Wild, allows for the use of any cards, battle helpers, and bots, providing fresh challenges. The update also introduces league-based leaderboards with expanded rewards for the top 100 players in each league, making climbing the ranks even more rewarding. These changes enhance the competitive experience and offer players more ways to earn Glint, keeping the game engaging for all skill levels.

DV for AI comment.
