Quix Chaos: A Swift Death to Enemies

I've been thinking on what to rent for this week's Share Your Battle Challenge as it was a vague "Dragon" theme. I've been browsing and realized that there wasn't a lot of Quix the Devious matches under my belt. For a legendary summoner, I find his abilities somewhat lacking for my taste. Here's the card's full ability

Quix the Devious

For four mana, Quix can offer a speed debuff for enemies which is always a welcome addition. What I don't like is its ranged attack debuff because it's only applicable to certain scenarios and there are some lineups that go heavy with melee or magic attacks only. But since I was willing to try something new for this challenge, I rented it and looked for a good partner for this summoner.

Chaos Dragon

I chose Chaos Dragon in order to take advantage of Quix's enemy speed debuff. A melee or ranged monster left with one speed while trying to hit a 3-speed flying monster is sure to have a hard time. Chaos Dragon will only need to evade a few attacks in order to stay in the game long enough to wipe out the enemy lineup.

Ranked Battle

This bronze level battle is quite interesting. Since this was a 22-mana earthquake rule set, my opponent used Mother Khala and Djinn Renova to add addional 2 health to its monsters. That will withstand one round of earthquake damage.

I, on the other hand, had the Chaos Dragon which has flying making it immune to earthquake. I also managed to squeeze in another dragon card, Twilight Basilisk, just to soak up some early damages.

The first round has concluded and my Chaos Dragon remained unscathed thanks to Twilight Basilisk's benevolent sacrifice. The opponent's monsters on the other hand were devasted by the earthquake and were all one blast away from extinction except for that pesky Luminous Eagle which also has flying.

Another round of exchanges and the opponent is down to his last two monsters while Chaos Dragon still looks lively with 4 armor and 8 health remaining.

Djinn Renova was taken out by the earthquake and Chaos Dragon finally delivers the killing blow to Luminous Eagle. It ended the game with 6 points of health remaining. Chaos Dragon sure is one sturdy beast.

Conclusion

I got lucky with the game since earthquake did a number on my opponent's monsters. But this doesn't affect the fact that Quix is really playable just for the speed debuff alone as my opponent had a couple misses throughout the game. Chaos Dragon also proves to be a formidable monster even on bronze. It gets even more devastating with the blast ability. And when it finally gains blind in max levels, it will surely be almost impossible to hit with melee and ranged attacks.
