Yeah would agree, the splinterlands community is surprisingly friendly!
And nice guild members go a long way!

Another perk of being in a guild is that you get a small discount on potions in the shop (discount depends on lvl of the lodge building) and exchanging strategies/ideas ofcourse.

Gandalf Stormbringer can be quite powerful with the right ruleset, though in novice / bronze leagues i don't think the water splinter is your best bet most of the time. because the starter magic monsters have very low health. Any monsters with Snipe, opportunity or blast abilities might take them out in no time 😄
