Splinterlands: Possibly the greatest Attacker of the New Arcana Escalation set!🔥

in Splinterlands • 8 hours ago

Thankfully, I have managed to maintain a ranking above 1000 so far, although climbing past this threshold is proving to be just as much of a struggle as it was when I was hovering between the 800 and 900 mark. This season, I have incorporated several new cards into my deck—cards whose performance I haven't really written much about until now. Featured in today's blog post is one such card from the Conclave Arcana: Escalation set: the Blue Wyrm Travesty. This card has been making waves thanks to its massive melee attack power. Although I have already played numerous battles using this card, I hadn't found the opportunity to write about it until now; however, in today's battle, you can witness its impressive performance firsthand.

The battle commenced with two specific rulesets in effect: "Odd Ones Out" and "Now You See Me." The "Odd Ones Out" ruleset eliminated all cards with an odd Mana cost from the selection pool, while "Now You See Me" granted the Camouflage ability to every card on the battlefield, without exception. Both players opted to battle using the Water Element. Coincidentally, my opponent also possessed a Blue Wyrm Travesty card, and both of us chose to place it on the frontline. This strategic placement was necessary because the card lacks the ability to launch attacks from anywhere other than the front position; furthermore, the Water Element's only card possessing the Flank ability was unavailable for selection due to the "Odd Ones Out" ruleset. There was, however, one major difference between our respective Archons: I chose Prophet Rosa with the specific aim of further empowering my ranged attackers.🔥

Since all the cards at the back of my lineup were already protected thanks to the Camouflage ability, I used Archon's powers to grant a +2 Range Power boost to my ranged attackers positioned at the very end of the lineup. The Silence and Slow abilities from my cards weakened the enemy even before the battle began—and then, the battle commenced. Because the enemy possessed two cards with the Slow ability, the speed of my cards was reduced by 2; consequently, my opponent got the opportunity to perform the first attacks. This actually turned out to be a favourable outcome, for if my card had attacked first—given that the massive melee attacker, Blue Wyrm Travesty, lacks the Piercing ability—that 7-point melee attack would have been entirely wasted on the opponent's armour. Since the enemy attacked first, my ranged attackers were able to destroy the opponent's armor and subsequently inflict damage to their health; finally, when it was my Blue Wyrm Travesty card's turn to attack, the enemy was knocked out with a single strike.

And then, following an attack from another one of my cards, the opponent suffered another knockout. Consequently, the Speed of my cards increased by +1. The result was that, in the next round, my cards could attack first. Once again, this card's explosive melee attack completely flattened the opponent in a single strike. Such is the power of the Blue Wyrm Travesty. Yet, it makes one wonder: why is this merely a Common card? It truly ought to be a Legendary one. Perhaps the reason lies in the fact that—even at its highest level—it cannot perform melee attacks from any position other than the front row. Consequently, this primary attacker in your deck is forced to stand at the very forefront to absorb the enemy's attacks, thereby reducing its chances of surviving on the battlefield. Nevertheless, I have thoroughly enjoyed using this card so far, and in all likelihood, I will definitely be purchasing it.

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥

Congratulations on that victory, untilwelearn! I was completely unaware that the legendary card you used reduces magic damage by 1; it has a lot of potential, unfortunately, it's from the Rebellion set. I'm focusing my strategies and card purchases on Conclave Arcana/Escalation, meaning I'm preparing for the eventual release of Rebellion in the medium to long term. Cheers.

Minus 7 from the health of an opponent is brutal indeed.
