Splinterlands: Three big mistakes that my opponent made!🔥

in Splinterlands • yesterday

Okay, so this is another battle from my ongoing brawl. In this one, you'll see three big mistakes made by my opponent, which led to his quick defeat. You'll also see the excellent performance of the Trample ability granted by Archon to my cards, which didn't give the enemy a chance to recover.

So, the mana cost for this battle was 42, and the ruleset included Armoured Up and Melee Mayhem. Armoured Up gives all cards +2 armour, and Melee Mayhem allows melee cards to perform attacks from anywhere in the lineup. Although I had teamed up with the legendary summoner Elowen Sylphie, who already gives her Bloodline cards the power to attack from anywhere in the lineup, my opponent, even with a common summoner, could still place their melee attackers anywhere in the lineup due to the Melee Mayhem ruleset. In a battle without this ruleset, placing Endless Ape in the tank position makes sense because, as a melee card, it doesn't have any special ability to perform attacks from anywhere in the lineup except the frontline. But in this battle, with the Melee Mayhem ruleset, I thought it was a big mistake that my opponent placed Endless Ape on the frontline.

His second mistake, in my opinion, was including two cards with the Weary ability in his team and, on top of that, placing both of them at the very end of the lineup. This isn't just a mistake; it's foolishness, because a card with the Weary ability starts with a 10% chance of becoming exhausted from the very first round, and this chance increases by 10% every round, reaching a maximum of 80%. Since I frequently use a card with the Weary ability myself, my experience tells me that this card can only perform attacks for 2 to 3 rounds, and after that, it becomes exhausted in every round, missing its chance to attack. And I'm giving the maximum possible number of rounds here, because sometimes it fails even in the first round. So, placing not one, but two such cards at the end of the lineup was, in my opinion, foolish. I think it would have been better to place these cards on the front line and place Endless Ape in the third or fourth position, because that way, Endless Ape's Scavenger ability would also be actively utilised, making that card even stronger.

Another mind-blowing mistake my opponent made in this battle was placing their only ranged attacker in the middle of the lineup. I don't know why he did this, but based on the fundamental nature of attack powers, we know that ranged attackers cannot perform attacks from the first position in the lineup. That's why ranged attackers are usually placed at the end of the lineup. Although sometimes I adjust my ranged attackers slightly to protect them from attacks with the Sneak ability, that adjustment is usually to the last or second-to-last position. But my opponent placed this ranged attacker in the middle of the lineup. Perhaps he was confident that knocking out Endless Ape, Quora Towershead, and Janni Rebel would be impossible. But according to my limited knowledge of this game, these cards could have been lined up better. I would have placed one or both cards with the Weary ability on the front line, followed by Quora Towershead and Janni Rebel, then perhaps Endless Ape, followed by the ranged attacker, and finally the other card with the Weary ability. Although my opponent's defeat was inevitable against my team in this battle, I think a proper lineup would have made the power play in this battle more interesting.🔥

Splinterlands isn't an easy place, but that's what makes it even more fun. A perfect strategy takes into account many factors, including stats, abilities, rulesets, mana caps, and more. That's why it's even more important to consider all these factors when developing a strategy. Add good cards to your deck, but also work on improving your strategies, and strive to win as many battles as possible!🔥
