Prelude
Greeting to all, it is mid week and welcome back to another new post on Adapting to Modern. With the launch of the foundation card set, it is evident that these cards will somehow become part of the available cards that we can play during normal ranked battle. And if I am not wrong, set can be rotated out, but foundation sets will stay in tact since they are supposed to be foundation.

For me, these cards have their value in help newcomers to strengthen the collection until they have sufficient DEC/SPS or other methods of capital injection to purchase main set packs or buy off the market for cards that can truly elevate their lineup. In this series, I will be deep diving into various foundation cards that we can obtain from playing frontier matches and opening foundation packs.

Foundation Set Cards

For the deep dive and analysis, I will be discussing about the growth of the cards and if they are able to synergize with modern cards to aid you in your ranked battles. This time round, assessment and recommendation will be within the card's own paragraph than having a segment on their own, so take note in the structural change in the post. Let's begin today's sharing.

Ember Roast Sow

Let's begin looking at the foundation card, Ember Roast Sow. A card that can be used in Little League but stuck with max of 1 melee attack throughout. Health wise a little squishy and can be easily taken out with a max of 4 health. For this card, it can be easily replaced by Gobalano Solider which cost 1 mana less and even have ambush. So if you already have Gobalano Soldier, you can forget about this card.

Growth potential is not fantastic, no scaling on attack with only health and speed seeing minor increases. No new abilities as well so definitely a card that most likely kept in storage than coming onto the battlefield.

In terms of rating for this card, based on a score of 5, it will get about 1. I don't think anyone will use this card outside of Frontier matches with so many stronger options available. Will most likely appear in ranked battles only when there it is needed to fill the lineup due to collection restriction rulesets to make the better cards not available for selection.

Ash Archer

Now we look at another card from Fire splinter, Ash Archer. This is an epic card that starts with 2 range attack, though it will be stuck with 2 range attack throughout. With the scarcity of good range cards, this card can fit in whenever there is need for range card. Being an elf, this card can even feature earth splinter matches which uses Kaylia Silverleaf as archon and can even be boosted when the Decrepit Windseer falls.

In terms of growth for this card, just some minor growth in terms of speed and health. At max level still a little squishy but at 4 speed, it can still have a decent amount of dodge. And the biggest plus point for this card will be that it belongs to elf bloodline and can benefit from bloodline related buffs such as Execute when used with Kaylia.

In terms of rating for this card, it will take a rating of 3 out of 5. I personally think this card is rather useable with cards in modern ranked battle especially with elf bloodline synergy. The execute that can be gained when being led by Kaylia is crazy. A barrage of double 2 range attack is just crazy when striking low health opponent. If the stats can be a little more for health, it would garner a higher rating. But otherwise, definitely a decent card that will be seen in elf bloodline lineups.

Wrap Up
I have seen many foundation cards being used in modern ranked battles and doing well. So definitely these cards will synergize well with other cards to make them viable and help win matches for players to earn more glint as they continue building up their collection. Hopefully this series of post will help new players learn more about these cards and improve their gameplay in ranked battles.

Let's continue to grow and find path in modern ranked battles as we journey on playing Splinterlands.
