Prelude
Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's topic is on Arena Architect where we look into building a perfect team and the process and thoughts behind this team build up.

Magic Heavy Water Splinter Returns
When I first started playing Splinterlands, it was when archons or back then known as summoners from untamed and beta were still in circulation and we can freely use them. However, when Chaos Legion came, a whole new set of meta came which is a little different from the days when water splinter terrorize others using Alric and various magic attackers in water splinter arsenal, zapping anyone that stands in their way. While in Chaos Legion, water splinter took a slight change to include range attackers and even other cards like Deeplurker that strikes for a very high damage through opportunity.

However, with the foundation set released and Mariel Singariel showing flashes of Alric within her, I guess it is time for a return of magic meta in water splinter and we do have quite a fair bit of magic attackers that we can deploy from water splinter.

And in today's battle and selection, I will brief more on how I build my team to combat my opponent.

Selection Analysis
In today's matchup, we have almost every single splinter available for selection other than life splinter. But since I am showcasing based on water splinter, I will be choosing water splinter for this battle.

Archon: Mariel Singariel
Selection notes - 6 mana (a little more than usual rare bloodline archon) but it gives +1 magic attack which will be all the magic attackers way more lethal.

Tank: Commander Slade
Selection notes - One of the best tanks I see for water splinter which is beefy and at the same time have dodge. Not only that, it also have enfeeble which will weaken any melee card's attack when it hits.

Position 2: Abyssal Elemental
Selection notes - While this card can hit well, it is also meant to be detonated. So that we can see resurgence whereby this card fully heals itself and deal one damage to all of opponent's lineup. This ability is fantastic for picking out stragglers whom are at 1 health in opponent lineup

Position 3 - Arcane Skinwalker
Selection notes - One of my recent additions and I would want to use this in bloodline archon which gives additional abilities to cards of the same bloodline due to shapeshift ability. Otherwise, this is a 2 magic attack card that can smash hard onto opponent.

Position 4 - Mystic Scaleweaver
Selection notes - Hits for 2 magic attack and slows opponent lineup down as a while, one of the best foundation cards.

Position 5 - Saltwater Mage
Selection notes - Hits for 2 magic attack and has sneak, which means weak cards that opponent slot at the back will get smashed easily by this card and accessed even if there is armour.

Position 6 - Mindless Thrall
Selection Notes - This card also hit for 2 magic attack and the best thing is that, I put it at the rear in case someone else uses Saltwater Mage to whack my backline, the phase it has will come in handy.

You must be thinking by now, where is Shock Trooper. While I do love to use Shock Trooper, but I find it a little too destructive and I end up having my lineup health shave off too quickly for my liking.

Opponent used Mariel Singariel as well, giving the lineup a boost in magic attack as well. An exactly same tank Commander Slade is being used that is supported by Anasth Soothsayer which can cleanse if my enfeeble hits his Slade. And not only that, it can also heal Slade with tank heal as well. Next in the lineup is Conclave Tracker which has opportunity and repair which can repair the armour of any card that initially had armour but being smashed off. Opponent used Mystic Scaleweaver, so we are on even grounds for speed. Next is Warborn Shaman which can hit for 3, have void armour and impede which further slows down my attack when it hits. And the final card is none other than Shock Trooper.

Do my opponent look to have an upgraded lineup or will I have an edge? Only one way to find out on what I've planned.

Let's go to the round by round synopsis.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Things went a little too fast for my liking. And indeed opponent manage to cleanse and heal his Commander Slade while my one get killed. Even my Abyssal Elemental also got killed and it triggered resurgence. This is worrying.

Round 2 - Phew, thankfully due to electrified, Slade and Shock Trooper feel right into the turn and Mindless Thrall swiftly took out Anasth Soothsayer. And subsequently Conclave Tracker also fell. Abyssal from my side also fell this round.

Round 3-4, We started by clearing out Mystic Scaleweaver and subsequently we continue pushing hard to finally take out Warborn Shaman and finally gotten the win.

Battle Summary
Now, while opponent look like they have a much stronger team, the Shock Trooper which also hit us real hard to clear off my Commander Slade and Abyssal Elemental early. But thankfully of the resurgence and the attacks from the rest of my lineup, the electrified draw back become too big an issue and everything on my opponent end just went on a downward spiral while we grow strength to strength and finally win the match.

And in this, we can see that a balanced team work better unless you are confident to settle the game really quick, otherwise balanced squads works better for me.

Wrap Up
Thank you for coming by and hear of how I build squads with consideration to the usability of the card, studying the possible advantage and drawbacks.

That was a good magic battle, the mage foundation legendary is excellent, I have it too

Love that card. Is almost like the new Oshannus for me. Though Oshannus still way better than this.
